I love my 2021 M1 iMac (8 core). It's almost 2 years old now, though, so I would want a bigger price cut to buy one now.

Not sure of experience of others here, but every time I get an iMac, the damn thing lasts for 7-9 years. Best apple bang for my apple buck.

I still have a 24" iMac from 2014 with i5 8gb RAM and a fast SSD I installed myself. However, its running Linux.

Same. I replaced a 2014 a year ago with an M1 iMac.

Same here! I'm still rocking a 2017 27" iMac Retina 5k with the quad core Intel i5. I've put 32GB of RAM it and I have no issues with it whatsoever.

I would really like to have an iMac to supplement my MacBook Air at home but I just cant pay that much for a machine that has not seen an update since release.

Cleaning out M1 iMac inventory, and getting us ready for M2 24" iMacs? We can only dream...
Well, at the very least, you can expect the 256GB and 512GB M2 iMacs to get the amazing new "second generation" slower SSDs.

So when factoring in the total performance increases and decreases in the M2 iMacs, a discounted 512GB M1 iMac should be a better value/$ than a $1699+ 1TB M2 iMac. Especially if you don't need more than 256GB or 512GB internal storage.

Not so much to look forward to in a M2 iMac unless you're spending more than $1699+.

An M3 iMac with crippled 256 and 512 SSDs is probably more interesting as the moving to the 3nm would still see performance increases despite the slower w/r speeds.

I wouldn't be surprised if they have an M2 and M2 Pro model of the 24 inch iMac at a spring event.
Tim wants to do this strategically so each quarter can look good on the balance sheet.
This is their new cycle, so M3 MacBook is likely happening this fall, followed by M3 Pro and Max in January.

Probably nowhere near enough of a price drop to consider it.
Especially at 24", when I would have wanted a 27" model that doesn't exist. Thanks for that Apple.

My mother and her sister are still using 2011 iMacs. But they are in the market for new ones when they come out.

The iMac is a joke. They seriously need to do something with it or kill it off already.

I have a pair of 27-inch iMacs from October 2009. One gave out in 2021, but the other is still up and running. Life extended with SSD's replacing the DVD drive and using Core Storage to setup fusion drives. The one that is still running is used by youngest children who are in kindergarten and second grade -- mostly for Safari.

This is only a 8GB M1 MacBook Air from 2 years ago. There are some things that are just not comparable to my previous intel 27" iMac. I was concerned games I played would be slower in rosetta2, nope.

2011 iMac 27" with quad core I7, and a 1TB SSD is still my daily workhorse. Really waiting for Apple to come out with and affordable 27" again. Last model with the IR remote control, great for movie watching from the couch.
