Don't do it! You can't hook an external monitor to this disaster without having it overheat due to a bad graphics driver for the Radeon dedicated CPU!

Here is a 75 page long thread about it:

FIX THIS APPLE AND AMD!

I looked at that thread, and there is a pretty simple workaround as long as you’re running in clamshell mode (MacBook Pro shut). Take a look at page 75, there are some happy users verifying it works.

This only happens to me when I connect to an external monitor via HDMI.
I don't recall this happening when using an LG UltraFine 5k display (the Mac version I briefly owned) which connects via Thunderbolt.

I'd love to hear a coherent explanation of why.
1) I have an older MBP with actual keys, I use the power button, but none of the other keys. so a Touch Bar, where there were actual useful functions I might use is a plus,
2) You can turn off the Touch Bar in settings and have it simply be the old school keys, so if you use them (I don't), they are there, so you are out nothing.

The only thing I can think of is you want a key to go "click". Please help me here
I don’t hate the touchbar but I can say that accidental touches when trying to press delete are super annoying. I think it would be much cooler if we individual keys that maybe had a customizable “display”. Maybe just more space between the touchbar and keys. Combining tactile keys with touch keys so close together is not horrible in my opinion but not ideal either.

First day here on my brand new base 16" MBP.
Coming from a 2017 MBA non-retina i5 8GB, it's like going from an entry level car to a BMW!

I really like the Touch Bar, but imo Apple could have put both the Touch Bar and the physical function keys row on it at same time, there's enough space on the 16" model for it.

A few hours ago my 16" MBP got very hot when upgrading Catalina to 10.15.5, hot to the point I would not want it to be on my lap.
But I don't think I will ever use it on my lap.

it's beautiful, but still more value in a windows machine. hate to admit it, but i have migrated completely
over to the PC side.
The price of the Mac is one of my biggest complaints towards Apple, that coming from someone who paid $1499 for a clamshell iBook G3. I will continue to be a Mac user but I will also continue to complain about what I pay for them.

I can. And have. And do.

No problems. At all.

I love B&H. Great people, great inventory.

I bought my 16" from them. $3299 model. Throughout the next few weeks after I bought it, they dropped the price 3 times so that it ended up at $2999. I called them each time the price dropped and got a refund in each price drop amount. Absolutely the best service over the phone in my experience.

How frequent are accidental triggerings of the Touch Bar occurring by various folk here? As I consider updating my 2013 MBA to an MBP I have to admit that does concern me slightly since I am constantly accidentally touching my iPad when using my Apple smart keyboard. Curious to hear if it’s just a muscle memory thing, where after repeated use, the accidental touches no longer occur for most here?

Personally, hardly ever, if at all. I'm just not privy to how people are constantly hitting the Touch Bar without intent.

I set up the TouchBar upper right with [ Brightness-Volume-Sleep-Siri ] and use the fn button to trigger the classic top row.
