If you are picky, OWC sell these as new but they have been previously "touched". I have purchased 2 HomePods from OWC and they work and look fantastic plus the customer service is great. I'm ordering another.
All the folks comparing the Homepod to a google home product or Alexa clock radio i have to ask - have you heard a HomePod? I don't normally carry out conversations with a speaker but Yes, Siri is basic. It turns on and off what I want and answers simple questions but that's not what the HomePod is about...for now.

It arguably doesn't even win in audio quality. There are numerous head to head blind comparisons (at least one by an Apple advocate) where HopePod lost to it's competitors.

There are many better options, starting with Sonos.

I agree my 99.00 Bose computer speakers sound 2x better. I narrowed one to see if I’d like it and it’s a waste it does not even work well with any of my Apple TV’s.

This isn't a great deal, considering Best Buy has been running $199 deals often, and my husband just bought one at Sam's Club for $179 - in-club special, as it's $100 more online. So, anyone considering one, check in your local Sam's Club to see if yours is offering the $179 deal.

Is a HomePod worth it yet? Considering an Amazon Echo works fine every single time and costs 10th of the price.

I love my HomePods! The sound is excellent despite the know it all’s poo pooing it here. It is FAR better sound than any cheap Amazon echo. I use a stereo pair as sound for my bedroom TV. I have 3 in my home and will be getting one more for my kitchen. But I prefer getting it from Best Buy with the Apple warranty. Best Buy nearly always follows OWC’s sale a week or two later.

No, they don’t sell new HomePods. They only sell Refurbished units, but advertise it as new.

They are indeed not "New".

Mine arrived yesterday, and the box says "As-is" (I even had to reset it because it wasn't in the initial setup mode), but it wasn't even the right model - it's reporting as a Canadian model (MQHW2C/A), though the box says it's a US model (MQHW2LL/A). They would not accept blame for this and are expecting me to cover the return shipping. 😡

I told them it’s bait and switch, and false advertising. They returned my shipping fee.
