Amazon today is discounting Apple's Magic Keyboard for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro to $249.99, down from $349.00. You'll see this price reflected at the checkout screen on Amazon, following the automatic application of a $79.01 coupon.

Today's deal is the best price we've ever seen for this accessory, with the previous Amazon low price at around $315. The Magic Keyboard provides a full keyboard with a trackpad, backlit keys, and a floating cantilever design that lets you adjust the iPad Pro to find the best viewing angle.

Over the past few weeks, Amazon has been offering the 11-inch Magic Keyboard at $100 off as well. This version of the accessory is priced at $199.00, down from $299.00, and it's another lowest-ever price.

let's hope there is a new version of the Magic Keyboard that allows for 360 degree rotation to use iPad in tablet mode....

Yes!

- Greater rotation angles.
- Function keys.
- Larger trackpad.
- BETTER battery life.

My only real problem with the Magic Keyboard (aside from being overpriced) is the battery hit on my iPad. I am often on the road, on the field... the keyboard was murdering my iPad far too quickly, I had to return it.

Question of the day: Will current Magic Keyboard be compatible with the iPad Pro that may or may not be announced on March 23rd?

I think it will be, it already has larger magic connectors compared to previous version.

You can never be sure though, notice Apple Pencil 1 and 2 have very distinct compatibility with devices in the line up.

I never really notice much, if any, battery life change. Shame to hear you do.

Man it’s brutal. Throw a pencil on top too and it sucks the battery down so fast I can barely get a work day out of it.

Meh. I always go back to the smart folio keyboard. The trackpad is just...meh. I do appreciate the backlight.

Plus the thing is heavy as hell...
I have the folio keyboard now, and as much as I try to convince myself I *need* the magic keyboard - I haven't been able to justify it. I'd like a trackpad and greater lap stability but not at the cost of weight difference and inability to use in tablet mode without yanking it off.

That's the number one issue for me as well. The Magic Keyboard kills a big part of the tablet experience. Sort of makes the Apple Pencil irrelevant.

At high prices like these it makes me think the iPad pro will one day be a low end Mac. They will be able to keep the prices the same just make the full mac experience cost you over $1,000 to pull it off the Apple way. Once even iPad chips are well above desktop levels and Apple is able to deliver macbook level battery life in a more compact form, they can certainly go there. The prices seem unnecessarily high for what it is now, but could be justified for what it could be if Apple goes in that direction. The least powerful mac with the least number of ports and ram at a normal entry price for an iPad and a slightly higher entry price for a mac. Seems like something they could do. And it would sell well because its just enough computer for a great deal of people who don't need much more than to be able to do a little bit of work and a lot content consumption but in the way they feel most comfortable. Park it while working, carry it while relaxing. For what it is now, a bluetooth keyboard and a case that wont prevent screen cracks just isn't worth that much IMO.

I think the word you meant to use was “portrait”.

Nevertheless I agree, it’s bizarre they didn’t accommodate this feature. I also hope the next major revision of the iPad (Pro or otherwise) finally has a camera in landscape format (located along the longer bezel edge) something a lot of cheap basic Android tablets have had for a while now.

Even the discounted price is still overpriced IMO
Not compared to what else is available. I would happily pay $250 vs the $350 I initially paid, but would also buy the Magic Keyboard all over again even at $350. It’s one of the best accessories Apple has ever made and really adds a new dimension to the iPad, especially the 12.9.

It's magic all right.

In so much as it's magical how it sucks money from your billfold.

$250 smackers for a keyboard? I mean, that's just insane. It would have to type my reports for me for that price...

It's a case, it's a Magic Stand, it's a Magic Keyboard, and a Magic Trackpad - all rolled into one incredible device. Is it expensive? Yes. Is it overpriced? Hell no.
