You say that like it’s a problem. If you think you can wait till the next gen ships, you may not need to upgrade now. Why upgrade u til you absolutely have to? By waiting, you end up with the latest and greatest at that moment, you save money by avoiding an unnecessary upgrade, you get to experience a major jump from your old machine, I fail to see a problem here. If you need to upgrade do it when you need it. Otherwise, there’s no rush.

That's beside the point I was making. I didn't say, "everybody should upgrade all the time!", did I? The point is that if you feel the need to upgrade, then there is no point in waiting for some next big spec jump. And this is especially true right now, when the greatest MacBook Pro update in a decade or more just happened.

@Lucas Curious c") We are a gang of british-minded professionals, still using the iMac from 2006. And we loosely call ourselves the "Mi6" - after the iMac 6.1.

Maybe you will join us on waiting for the "Mi6" ? or M6 ? We´d be honored. :D
#WaitWithUs
would be my honor to wait with you for the release of M6 in 2032. Quick question, does your gang get recognition for your martyr way of life? Any perks like getting chicks or favoritism to get into heaven?

No, say no more - but we kinda basically work for the british government… Hehe.

I've got a 16" intel MBP, but now that I've discovered the wonder of a second monitor, I think a 14" in is in my future. Not this one, though; I'll wait for the next round of revisions.
What kind of monitor did you get and/or would recommend?

I was considering getting an OLED TV (no larger than 43") as a second monitor for my 16" MBP on order, but I'm concerned about resolution at a close distance (3 to 4 feet) and display burn-in.

The other choice would be a miniLED TV (no larger than 43"), but then again, the resolution is an issue.

The last choice would be to get a 4K or 5K monitor, which cannot be larger than 27" to qualify as a Retina display (or at least have a decent resolution for text.

I was buying to supply constraints last spring, so I ended up with a Dell ultrasharp 24". It's fine for my needs, which is a larger screen for word-processing/office work and light video editing, but if you need it for more creative work and would prefer a sharper monitor/higher res, there's obviously better stuff out there.

What I do love, though, is that there's a USB-C hub built in, so all I do is plug in one cable when I get to the office, and I get everything through that single cable and everything else can be plugged in through the monitor and left there.

Thank you for sharing that info. 👍🏼

Any other suggestions, such as using a larger TV as a monitor, miniLED, OLED, etc?
