Maybe what you bought was not sold by Amazon, but by a 3rd party seller which could mean they're either fake or used/refurbished.

Well, that's simply not true. Amazon is an authorized Apple retailer/reseller. This has been the case since their 2018 deal.

If you did buy real AirPods and they were sold and shipped by Amazon, but the warranty start date doesn't match up with your purchase date, you can contact Apple to have them fix it on their end. They'll probably ask for proof (screenshot) of purchase.
Wow, interesting. Thanks for the information. It's crazy how wrong Apple employees can actually be. Everything I wrote was directly quoted from an Apple employee when I brought the new AirPods Pro 2 in for trouble shooting (where they found corrosion and informed me of the actual warranty date). I actually thought it was strange when he said Amazon wasn't an authorized reseller but I didn't have any other information to counter (at the time).

I did buy from Amazon directly and not a third-party selling through Amazon but the pair I received was definitely off. Even the weight of the case felt off. Happy I purchased directly through Apple for the added piece of mind. My experience buying these with Amazon wasn't (and still isn't) great. And I still haven't received my money back as they say it can take up to 30 days with "high-end electronics." YMMV.

Thanks! There’s just so many pros to everything using the same charging cable: convenience/reduced electronic waste/compatibility/efficiency/etc…
Sure sure. And maybe someday we'll get there and everything will be so incredibly convenient. But, speaking of electronic waste, I'm sure as hell not throwing away perfectly good gear because it uses the "wrong" cable -- and from the way some people talk about this, it seems like they consider it.
