It's worth it for those who don't care about the new remote. There is plenty people who will value more a big discount than a slightly better remote in the decision process
Especially when you can just use your phone and ignore the remote altogether.

yeah but isn't this with the older slower chip?
The A10X and A12 about on par. For real world GPU performance, the A10X actually out performs to the A12.

Some people say that the A12 "feels" faster than the A10X for some tasks, but I wonder if that has more to do with optimization of the OS, or the fact people are comparing a well used device to something brand new.

I wished I would have seen this deal earlier, I would have picked up two of them.

Not in love with the 1st gen Sir Remote, but the 2nd gen loses functionality, and cannot be used with many games. The 2nd gen doesn't really improve in much, as any IR remote could do almost everything the 2nd gen Siri Remote can do.

Buy it used they are cheap as chips and resell the black (new style) remote to recoup some of the money and then use an old silver remove (I prefer this). I ended up paying half nothing all in. If you don't have an old silver remote you can buy them used for nothing.

I despise the old remote. Is the new one worth $60? Meaning is it significantly better? I did get my 4K/64 for $80 refurbed, delivered, so I am way ahead as it stands.
I got it as a gift. I really like it. Do I $60 like it? Maybe not, but its definitely an improvement

Still not worth it to me. Why would I buy this over a Roku Ultra?
I, for one, am turned off by the creepy ad tracking business Roku and a lot of competitors do. The Apple TV is well integrated into the Apple ecosystem, has a great UI. I got the newest 4K version because it has support for spatial head tracking audio through AirPods, which sounds incredible and works seamlessly. Although I guess the hardware isn't the absolute cutting edge it's been more than sufficient for streaming thousands of hours of TV on tons of various platforms. I got five years good use out of my last one. I forgot about the extra few bucks it cost pretty much immediately.

I know the answer to this question, but I need to hear it. Is Apple TV better than the native built OS on modern TVs?

I am mostly using it for streaming (Netflix, Apple TV+, Amazon Prime, etc.) What will give me the better user experience?

Still going strong with my third generation. :p

Mine too. It’s getting a bit long in the tooth with the very occasional slowness, app crashing, and freezing, but I have yet to switch to the 4K because I don’t have a 4K TV in my room yet :(.

I wouldn’t buy it for $10. Roku does everything we need for $30: Amazon, Netflix, and Plex. Total subscription cost is about $30 per month and we order stuff off Amazon so get faster shipping to boot. Tried Apple subscription and there just wasn’t anything of interest to us.
I’m a Roku guy, too. Used it a long time. We bought and returned an appletv, mostly because the remote is terrible. Appletv is way faster than anything else. Plus it connects directly through your headphones. Roku has to connect through your phone and has been flaky for me. Appletv has advantages, but wasn’t for me. Now I use the latest chromecast.

I am loving the 2021 TV 4k!
Remote was a huge upgrade, and I can stream 4k from my NAS smooth as silk over wifi (caveat: I also upgraded my wifi to v6). Amazing experience.

I'm thinking about selling my 2017 in my projector/kids playroom to upgrade that one as well.

I just received my Previous Gen Apple TV 4K for $99.99 from WOOT. Packed up the newer model to return to Amazon. The difference was not worth the $70 higher price, when I had zero problems with the old remote - and actually did not care for the less features this newer one has - you can't use the new remote for game play.

Probably is. Many/most "HDR" labeled TVs can accept the signal, but can't actually reproduce it properly.

So unlike, say, 4K content on a 1080p display where it acts like supersampling, because these are mismatched color/lighting signals, it just comes out looking wrong.
It's a solid budget TV, TCL Series 4 (2021 model)
Supposed to support HDR 10

I'm pretty sure HDR would look much better on a high end model, but I don't watch tons of TV and the price was just too good
I bought it to replace my defective and dumb 2009 HDTV lol
