I also have the 2 second delay when using the mini as an iMac speaker (just like there is a 1-2 second delay using my pair of original HomePods on my Apple TV). It is slightly annoying but I still think the quality of auto makes up for it. Bottom line is it is very personal use case decision. I don't listen to that much music on my iMac so I just switched back to using the built in iMac speaker but I keep using my big HomePods on my Apple TV because it sounds so great (the sound of the explosions in the movie Greyhound and the gun fights in Lone Survivor are truly amazing).

Thanks for confirming the 2-second delay in macOS with live content on AirPods Mini.

I've been toying with the idea of these for some time now. I've got a number of Amazon echo devices around my home, including an Echo Plus, Echo 2.0 and Echo dots.

Thinking these would sound incredible, I was sorely disappointed. They sound really "thin" with absolutely no substance. I had a HomePod to compare against, and these Mini's are just terrible in comparison.

Why did Apple discontinue the HomePod and why do people rate these? They are very mediocre.

I have 6 Amazon Echos and 1 Homepod in my home. The Homepod speaker sounds way better playing music than the echo. But, my biggest gripe about the Homepod is that you literally cannot change the volume Siri speaks at. You can tell it "Siri, speak louder" and it'll say "okay, I'll talk louder" but it doesn't. I've looked at all the solutions and hacks online and nothing works. Siri dynamically adjusts its speaking volume based on ambient noise and nothing I do to change it matters.

The reason why this bugs me so much is I'm deaf in 1 ear and have problems with sounds at certain frequencies. If I need Siri to speak louder, I don't need it second guessing my needs based on ambient sounds.

I tell Siri to "turn your voice to 50%" and it seems to stay that way.

Damn it. I was hoping for more. These little guys are amazing speakers … but I like more base … I have 3 original homepods and it sounds just like them with no base …. Rats
