Room filling unsurpassed sound for a tabletop speak. The bass alone is incredible.

I meant what function does it hold over a phone paired with a solid BT speaker? Like why get a HomePod if I already have Siri hooked up to a speaker? I have two home theatre speaker systems in my home, so the good quality doesn't really draw me in.

For me... it's about having a speaker or stereo speaker pair that's always on and doesn't need a phone/computer or other device to operate.

From 20' away I can say something like, "Hey Siri, play jazz." Or, "Hey Siri, play Robert Johnson." And it happens.

I don't need to find my phone or wake my computer. That's huge.

I have 3 homepods. Started with one during the pre Black Friday sale last year with Best Buy. Loved it so much, bought another. Then a few months ago, bought a third.

No regrets here. Love the sound and convenience.

Again.....strawman....no one said it wasn’t a “good“ speaker.....the POINT that was made is whether it was good value. Keep spinning...it’s not.
Do you hate the HomePod or what? You don’t think it’s a good value at 199? Don’t buy it. Pretty simple.

So can the HomePod. I stream whatever I want. I don’t use Siri. Just select the Home source for sound on your phone. Has to be an iPhone tho. It’s that easy.

So I can say select Amazon Prime Music or SiriusXM via my phone, start the playlist and then leave the house and it will keep playing?

edit - and to clarify, I mean queue it up via my iPhone and then the iPhone isn’t required to be connected afterward. Obviously Sonos needs a phone or tablet to get the process started (unless you do it via Alexa) it then it handles grabbing music and streaming afterward with no active connection required.

Quality is great, but it is a hideous piece of furniture. Also, I believe it was rumored the new versions are supposed to come out this year, which is likely they we are seeing such deep price cuts. Make sense to clear them out during the summer before their new product line.

And by new versions, I hope it is a new model, and not just new internals. If they can make them look good I may pick one up.
