I think this is a bit of an unfair assessment of the device.$249 is reasonable if it was designed as well as the Surface Pro keyboards that can flip around in tablet mode and not get in the way and light weight at 0.74#. Magic Keyboard, however, is a rigid brick at 1.3# and designed as bad as Magic Mouse.
I ordered 200 LB of weights and 3 days later saw the price dropped. I called amazon to ask about getting the difference but they dont seem to mind that I ship 200 LB back at their expense and then they have to sell it for a lower price as used. I didn't send it back but yea I hunt understand this flaw in their system. Instead of squeezing every cent and second out of their labor, hey can save on operating costs by discouraging returns.I really don't understand Amazon sometimes. I purchased the 12.9" magic keyboard a couple of weeks ago at full price. When I called Amazon customer services to inquire about the lower price, instead of just crediting me the difference, I had to order a new keyboard at the lower price and then return the old one (at a cost of $8 for shipping). So I got back $100 (when you include the tax), but Amazon had to spend the money to ship the second keyboard, and they received back a keyboard that could not be re-sold as "new." That doesn't seem like smart business practice.
+1. I use my iPad as a nightstand TV, and would prefer to not have the keyboard/trackpad jutting out. However I also wish for a redesign that allows tablet use without taking the device off, as easy as it is to do so.
I think it’s a great price, I got the Smart Keyboard folio in 2019 for an iPad Pro 11”, thats $179... were I doing that shopping today, for $20 more I would totally have gotten the Magic Keyboard.I saw the sale on the iPad Air and Magic Keyboard for it over the weekend and purchased both; the $100 off the keyboard was a nice incentive, as I wasn’t originally going to get it.
Some of us can justify paying $249 for an iPad! lol. The Pros are so expensive. While these are good deals in terms of the percentage of the price taken off, I still cannot justify spending $249 for an iPad keyboard/cover.
