I don’t think $50 off is enough to convince anyone to not just wait for the next generation.

$249 is reasonable if it was designed as well as the Surface Pro keyboards that can flip around in tablet mode and not get in the way and light weight at 0.74#. Magic Keyboard, however, is a rigid brick at 1.3# and designed as bad as Magic Mouse.
I think this is a bit of an unfair assessment of the device.

This device is somewhat meant to turn your iPad into a "lappable" laptop, so the weight to the base is necessary.

Also, the addition of great-feeling backlit keys, Apple's incomparable trackpad, pass-thru charging and that magnetic connection shows the product was well thought out.

I get it's not for everyone, but what it does is somewhat unique.

And the price is almost the exact addition of all the separate components Apple sells that were merged into one device here.

However I also wish for a redesign that allows tablet use without taking the device off, as easy as it is to do so.

I really don't understand Amazon sometimes. I purchased the 12.9" magic keyboard a couple of weeks ago at full price. When I called Amazon customer services to inquire about the lower price, instead of just crediting me the difference, I had to order a new keyboard at the lower price and then return the old one (at a cost of $8 for shipping). So I got back $100 (when you include the tax), but Amazon had to spend the money to ship the second keyboard, and they received back a keyboard that could not be re-sold as "new." That doesn't seem like smart business practice.
I ordered 200 LB of weights and 3 days later saw the price dropped. I called amazon to ask about getting the difference but they dont seem to mind that I ship 200 LB back at their expense and then they have to sell it for a lower price as used. I didn't send it back but yea I hunt understand this flaw in their system. Instead of squeezing every cent and second out of their labor, hey can save on operating costs by discouraging returns.

I saw the sale on the iPad Air and Magic Keyboard for it over the weekend and purchased both; the $100 off the keyboard was a nice incentive, as I wasn’t originally going to get it.

Like some have said before and in other threads: technically it is a trackpad, a cover, a stand, the keyboard, a pass through charger when placed, etc... seems like a good deal?
I’m on the fence of buying one, I don’t need it and happy with the smart folio keyboard... anybody here that had the smart folio and jumped into the MK bandwagon?

I think it’s a great price, I got the Smart Keyboard folio in 2019 for an iPad Pro 11”, thats $179... were I doing that shopping today, for $20 more I would totally have gotten the Magic Keyboard.

EDIT: typo on the price
