Do you need to charge that much?
I always want to charge my electronics when I'm near a body of salt water!
Oh wait, you're asking Apple if they need to charge that much for the device...why yes they do; please read on...
Probably costs about $5 to manufacture, so can't blame Apple for want to sell about so few
Wasn't there just another article about Apple's magnanimous donations to the environment, or people with ass-acne, or something?
I would be a buyer at $50.
That philanthropic stuff I mentioned above costs money. Gobs and gobs of money, just so all us Apple customers like you and me can feel like we're doing all the right things in life and we'll automatically get into heaven because of that, even if some of us don't believe in heaven.
It was an article on MR a couple of days ago...and I just don't remember if you were one of the ones in favor of donating to the green trees forever fund or the one-armed vegan English Channel swimming violin players' fund, or if you were one of the ones saying you'd like more freedom to choose your own donation activities, thank you very much.
I count myself in the latter group, longing for freedom of choice and the liberty to say "no" once in awhile. Shouldn't I be able to buy this charger for $50 then? What, not even if I promised Tim Apple that I'd donate $100 to pull a deserving kid out of a miserable government school and help put him or her into a competent private, charter, or home school?
Oh wow, I just called him "Tim Apple". I think I'm slipping! Or maybe I'm not. Whatever; give me liberty or let me be snarky.
That whole word salad above is basically me saying that I think we're lucky that this charger is not 10 times the price it is today, at least in part because of the forced-donation issue, of course. Carry on, good sir, carry on!
Oh, and maybe I'll still buy one. Whatever; after all, it's still a choice.
It looks like the ant baits I bought the other day….
Now that's funny. And not incorrect!
