This is not the lowest ever, last week for Labor Day it was $300 off at Best Buy.

Amazon needs to move stock, don't digg no long term storage fees, you feel me. However, buy Apples at Amazon and you don't get covered by original manufacturer warranty. Be sure to top up with Apple Care from Apple.

What are you talking about? You can buy it from any retailer and you still get the 1 year limited warranty.

You’re even covered by the manufacturer warranty if you buy it secondhand from somebody via eBay or Craigslist. I speak from firsthand experience. The warranty is attached to the serial number.

Picked one of these up for my kiddo going to college. Kind of nice, but features and design feel very dated. Not as snappy or sharp as our new Surface Book 2, which has an amazing touch display.

Now I understand why I was having trouble figuring out your reply to my comment in another thread...you clearly have no idea what you’re saying.

Yep, a 12-pack and a couple dozen bong hits will do that :) Rule number one: never post shortly before bedtime.

I actually think a 12 pack and a couple dozen bong hits would make his posts more intelligible.

But I digress...Bring on laptops with new keyboards! My Late 2013 MacBook is going vintage next year, and might possibly be excluded from a MacOS update.

Even if the keyboards were reliable, these prices are stratospheric, even with the discounts.

Those prices don’t sound like anything special. Those prices still sound high, but closer to normal before Clueless Cook raised prices on practically all of Apple’s products.

My goal is to be like you....so i will join a BMW enthusiast club, where i will always say that everything is too expensive! Sounds like great fun!

(Btw...you can get a $200 windows laptop that will do most things the typical person needs, so you could buy that and try to be happy for a change?)

Im crossing my fingers and toes! These discounts, plus lack of rumors for the last 2 weeks imply an imminent announcement.

My 2013 has developed a few issues. Key caps worn down, several hot pixels, battery near end of life, and internal speakers not working because optical output is stuck on.

If i had it all repaired, i would feel obligated to keep it for a couple more years. But the new 8 core machines are more than 2x the performance of my old machine, so i think it is time to upgrade.

But the keyboard will be make or break for me. I plan to keep the next machine for another 6 years, but the keyboard warranty is only 3 years...

That sounds like one well-loved laptop! Mine is actually in pretty good shape, save that I keep getting a warning to replace the battery (which strangely has stopped lately and my battery life has seemed to improve). I have been loving my iPad Pro, and might even continue to use it and wait until the newer laptops go on sell in a year or so. The thought of spending over $2k on a laptop just to get the amount of disk space I want (at least a terabyte) is unappealing to say the least!

Yup, Apple would only discount to clear inventory. Even with free repairs I don’t see many people wanting to buy a laptop and deal with the hassle.

With sales down, I think Tim got the message.

Agreed. Crazyness to buy at astonishing price points with anything less than astonishing hardware. That keyboard is less than astonishing, magic, full of glitter dust or whatever Apple choose to call it this year, so no deal.

This is kind of a problem now that Apple has "gone there" with the prices. The demands keep rising with the prices, so as they become ridiculous so become the demands. But hey, this is at least not my headache. Tim Cook has shown how he can squeeze ever increasing profits out of their chain, so let's see how he'll do it with pressure from lower revenue. That's the real test.

Absolutely. I'm not even looking at anything else today with the established track record of their "innovative" design.

I am wondering as well which Macs and MacBooks won't receive the next major macOS update in 2020. For sure macOS Catalina is the last update my 7 years old macbook will receive but I can't complain as it has done its job. Too bad apple doesn't offer the same longevity to its iPhones and iPads with up to 8 years of software support to the latest OS.
