Not saying you are wrong, but the blind testing done says there was no difference.

Sound wise it actually is. The Sonos sounds good but the HomePod is definitely closer to a full range system. We compared both in the studio.
I’m only talking about the sound, not the ‘intelligent’ features.

Actually, the testing done with the listener blindfolded showed a difference. Those where they hid the speakers behind blinds prevented the HomePod from characterizing the room and so were not very useful.

Grabbed a white one. Been considering it for a while. Annoyingly enough I Also just added a Yale lock to connect to Nest along with my thermostat, so no HomeKit for me.

Target is heading into the weekend with an all-new sale on Apple's HomePod smart speaker, now priced at $199.99, down from the original price of $299.99. At $100 off, this sale is the lowest we've ever seen on a brand new HomePod, and the best deal on the speaker so far in 2019.

You can purchase the HomePod in either White or Space Gray on Target.com, and ship the speaker to your home or pick it up in-store. Additionally, Target RedCard holders have a chance to save an extra 5 percent on the HomePod.

Apple dropped the price of the HomePod from $349 to $299 back in April, hoping to boost sales for the speaker after some blowback to the steep cost of the device. You can find sales like this one and many more in our full Deals Roundup.

Update: out of stock.

Called numerous stores in my area, finally found one that had just 1 left! Drove all the way over there only for them to say the price was $299 and that $199 must be an online only price. Thanks, Macrumors!!

Will they price match if it’s sold out?
They never even looked if they were in stock for me. I honestly didn't expect them to honor the price match, but they did without hesitation.

What color did you get?
Black, of course! :D

I got it in black as well!

I called and asked if Best Buy price matched Target and they said they did. Drove 45 minutes there and was worried that they wouldn’t price match because 1) It was sold out at Target stores and online, 2) You need to add the item in your cart to see the discounted price and they can’t verify and add it in their cart if it’s sold out.

Luckily, I still had the HomePod in my cart when Target had availability so it saved in my cart under “save for later” and it showed the $199 price. I showed that to the Best Buy employee and told him he needs to add the item in the cart to see the discount if he was going to try to attempt to recreate the purchase to check the discount. He looked up something on his phone for a few seconds and was able to verify the discounted price.

I love this MacRumors community. You find out about sales and get tips on where to get them, etc. Without this thread, I wouldn’t have known about this sale and that Best Buy would price match. Now instead of missing out on the sale at Target, I was able to get the HomePod TODAY at the discounted price elsewhere.

Excited to set this bad boy up!

Earliest was July 9th. Luckily my local Best Buy had some in stock and I price-matched.

This should have been the launch price. I still have no need for one as i use full sound systems in every room. Might be okay for my external monitor though.

That is a hell of deal for the sound quality! I wish I lived i the US - would pick up my second HomePod in sec!

Thx for the info about the price matching! I just picked up a black one at Best Buy and they were able to price match!

How were u able to show Best Buy the $199 price from target? Target shows $299 until u add it to ur cart, which u can’t do if it’s out of stock. I always have BB price match but u have to show them the advertised price. Just wondering what u showed them. Thx.
