Best Buy has the HomePod mini in every color for $79.99, down from $99.00. We haven't seen this sale since Black Friday, and it'll only be around for one day, ending later tonight around midnight.

That’s a great deal. Would make great Christmas presents - especially now that Apple sells 3 new colors

I noticed the $79.99 price this morning around 6AM EST, 4 hours prior to this article - I had just downloaded the new 22.12.10 version of the Best Buy app last night and was clearing the blue dot beneath the updated app when I saw this price in the app

The 22.12.10 version of the Best Buy app was released 2 days ago on 12/19 and replaced 22.11.20 which was released on 11/29 - it seems like Best Buy updates their app about every 3 weeks based on this link:

apps.apple.com/us/app/best-buy/id314855255

It’s a great deal but I already have a HomePod mini and I’m hoping🤞that Apple does come out with a new regular HomePod next year because the A8 in my HomePod (from 2018) feels very antiquated with AirPlaying music and podcasts compared to the newer HomePod mini

I want one, but a while back I got a Google Home Mini for $1 as part of a Spotify promo. Weak bass, but otherwise excellent voice-driven bathroom speaker

Got 2 at $80 and they are cute. A little hard to control (like trying to play my playlist it says I have to be the one to request my own playlist). But cute. I thought it was worth it to replace my Bose. Tap to shut off is pretty nice. Having it listen all the time isn’t my idea of a great thing but I live with it (creepy).

Bought two at $80 last go-round. First one gets good use as default sound output for TV/Apple TV in a bedroom.

Second is still in the box

Doesn't work well as default audio output for a Mac Studio. Way too much delay when starting/stopping audio/video content.

Tried HomePod Minis but had connectivity issues, and Siri is just outright unreliable. Caved and bought an Amazon Echo Dot 5th gen. Alexa is leaps and bounds ahead of Siri. I had no idea Alexa was that far ahead. You can damn near mumble something from 20 feet away and she nails it every time. Sound is also more than adequate. I realize I give up whatever perceived privacy we feel we have in the Apple ecosystem. However, all my tracking is turned off and yet I have conversations about shoes or something random and an ad for that very thing pops up in my social media feeds, so I don’t really buy the Apple privacy thing as secure as it’s made out.

Decent price. I bring this up every time one of these deals come up, but if you have a Target redcard, you can price match with Best Buy and get an extra 5% off on top of that. Really only an additional $4 off lol, but it all adds up.

Same. Have intentionally tested some pretty random terms and it’s shocking to see those things pop up in Instagram (about the only social I still “use”). And that is with microphone and cameras disabled in Settings. Only thing I can figure is my Siri & Search is still enabled for Instagram. I’ll have to disable that and see what that yields.

Bring back the original HomePod (at least the form factor). HomePod mini is a joke
Eh, depends on your use case.
My 8 yo has one in her room and it’s been a game changer for her. I’m impressed with the fidelity of that tiny speaker for her sized room. Is there better fidelity? Of course. But I think you’d be hard-pressed to find noticeably better fidelity, in that foot print, at that price point.

That said, I too would love to see a return of a larger HomePod.

HomePod mini rivals iOS 7 as the most astoundingly disappointing thing to come from Apple.

That says a lot.

Is frustrating, unpredictable, and near impossible to reset and rename.

Good job Apple.

But when it works, I like mine. Just too much like anything like Microsoft, it's not easy/quick to figure out the basics you need to know to get the mini to do what you want. Shame.

We're getting married on 12/30 and I moved one of my HomePod mini's to the dinner area to show my fiancé how nice they sound. I unplugged it and moved it back to my office. It's playing music from a source I can't even figure out where it's coming from. Can't turn off the music. Another example of Apple no longer It Just Works.

I own two original HomePods and multiple minis, I am truly disappointed if I use Mini as stand alone speaker, but if I play all in sync (the original two in Hall and rest in other rooms), it does sound amazing. In my opinion both Mini and original form factor should be sold to cater all needs. Selling Mini alone is a joke!

And this is exactly why I ended up with an Echo dot instead of the HomePod mini. Tried and tried but was just too much of a headache for the $100. Got the echo dot 5th gen for $30 with Amazon discount and $10 gift card, which also included a smart light. Amazon is quite far ahead in terms of a smart speaker.

Discussion :
Went with the 79.99 deal hoping to listen to stereo in my room , once setup the lag on PLAY track from iPhone/iPad was pretty bad, initiating PLAY track through SIRI was ok for the first minute or so then sound would drop to one side(homepod) , reset phone/homepod/network, removed homepod from HOME , re-installed all over ; is there a setting that Im missing ?

P.S. Everything works fine with Just one MINI.
