I want one, but a while back I got a Google Home Mini for $1 as part of a Spotify promo. Weak bass, but otherwise excellent voice-driven bathroom speaker
Weak bass? As with most (small) speakers it really depends on where you place it. In our office we have a stereo pair and bass is clear and fine.

If pairs could work in stereo, I’d consider a second one.
It does, but you may notice some phase shifting.

Bring back the original HomePod (at least the form factor). HomePod mini is a joke
No, the mini isn't a joke. It sounds great for it purpose. But a HomePod 2 would be super. I'm in.

I wish I was able to set an alarm and have it play something from my songs instead of requiring an Apple Music subscription....
I haven't been able to set internal alarms with a different sound at all. Only with Homekit and it did play my one of own files. It has to be able to sync to iCloud though.

In theory they work in stereo pairs. As someone who has been using them now for 18 months getting them to stay consistently paired is a nightmare for me personally; this is after changing every Wi-Fi setting under the moon and in the same room as the router.

My experience with the HomePod mini is that they don’t sound particularly good, if you can’t eq with Spotify they sound flat out bad, the stereo pairing is extremely problematic, and generally I regret not buying a Sonos or other product (HBO speaker even) , even at a much higher cost. They’re probably going to be sold as a pair for the £25 I’ll be able to get for them.

I appreciate a lot of people
Love them, perhaps individually as a small smart speaker they work, with the significant limitations of Siri smart speakers relatively speaking, but as a music device or paired to a MacBook Pro- I wouldn’t recommend them.

£160 is a long way towards a significantly better audio experience and the smart features largely rely on sending webpages to your phone. They’re not very smart on top of not sounding good.

Can you plug two of them into a single USB-C brick? Needing extra room behind my desk is kind of keeping me from going with a stereo pair.

Must admit I haven’t tried it as mine are working with the Apple TV. However, each one comes with a 20W USB-C brick so, mathematically, provided you can provide enough power from a dual USB-C brick then it should work. I’d be keen to try it now you’ve brought it up!

I missed the sale, so I don't get a chance to try it. This only gives 35 watts, so it's probably not strong enough? Unless the HomePod mini doesn't need the full 20 watts?
