Hm, going over that list I just notice how the Macbook Pro is made up of lots of third-party vendor's parts. That reminds me of a sentence from Apple's website:

Apple marketing blurb said:
Because Apple builds both the computer and the software that comes with it, they’re literally made for each other. This means that a Mac rarely freezes or crashes. Occasionally an application might quit, but it won’t affect the rest of your system.
Yes, thank you. May I send in another OS X "Kernel Panic" crash report that happened after copying a file to my external eSATA drive?! :apple:

You can complain all you want and claim the problem is Apple's, but since others aren't having all the same problems you are, it's obvious it's not Apple's fault. If the ports, etc. were "faulty", then everyone would experience the same problems and Apple would issue a patch.

My firewire ports, ExpressCard port, GPU, AirPort, sleep mode and Software Update all function perfectly. If there was a design flaw, I and every other MBP owner would be having the same problems. We're not.

I do not assume that you did a little web-search before writing this? In fact other people all over the web are having exactly the same problems (with some of us being fortunate enough to find some workarounds).

So you are using professional audio devices with the Firewire port? Which one do you use?

So you are using a working eSATA ExpressCard? Which one do you use (there is a whole dedicated thread about this on this very forum)? Please create a clone to an eSATA drive, then verify it via Disk Utility and report back. Thanks.

So your AirPort connects at 300 mb/s to your wireless router? Check both the AirPort (Option+click on the status bar symbol) and the router for what speed is reported when you are close to the router. Please report back. Thanks.

So you checked power draw after awaking from Sleep with the 9600M GT active with a wattage meter? Please report back if so. Thanks.

So you can change Software Update from "Weekly" to something else or disable it and after your next login it remains at what you set it? And it does not do a Software Update with every login? Please check the Software Update preference pane, it tells you when the last update check was done. Restart the computer and check again. Then please report back. Thanks.

Let's take these one at a time. No, my Software Update runs according to the schedule I select in System Preferences, and not each time I log in. I wonder if you've taken the time to check this setting, found by right-clicking the Software Update Icon on the Dock?

Thanks for offering some help! ;)

Just to clarify, I'm no computer beginner, but rather a professional, eventhough my experience with OS X is still limited. If you check this forum and the Apple Discussions board you will find several other people experiencing the same problems, albeit not all of them can identify them as precisely.

Nope, but I took the time now and it is not set to "Open at login". Even if it was it shouldn't reset the update to "Weekly" at every login neither (others on the web have reported the same problem).

Have a look at the times on the following two attachments. As you can see update ran within minutes eventhough it's set to "Weekly".

I will give Apple another call today and ask them to give me a real ticket number at once and ask them if Apple Solution Providers can be of any help for the problems listed.
