Where did the Surface come into this. Maybe you need to go back and read my comment again. I own a loaded 2014 MBAir and it is a real workhorse. It does Windows great!

Read your post you mention iOS will not run these and mention Windows. Maybe your previous post was a bit confusing?

********

Here's more of your post:

"I have no choice. Not a Windows hater as it makes me a great living. I use what I need to to get the job done and being a fanboy does not put money in the bank! "

Is it Windows which makes you a great living, the programs and do you use windows with these programs to get the job done?

Not making a mountain out of a molehill, I was just responding to the post about iOS and this thread is about a user switching from the Surface with windows. You were confusing!

So many useless words, wasted!:p

the company that launches a product must estimate the demand for it

Launch shortages are a marketing technique. Also, people are fallible. Show me a person that claims to be infallible. . .and I will show you a colossal bull****er.

:D

Sure, Apple probably has some supply-demand imbalance in respect to the rMB, but I'm pretty certain they assessed this carefully before the introduction.
Mindy you, it's a global roll-out and Apple isn't trying to cater to their local, most important audience first, i.e. the US as with the Apple Watch or original iPhone.

The Surface 3 hasn't yet been introduced worldwide and so Microsoft has a steady flow of the slates to go around brick and mortar stores as both stock and demos in the US. Also, no one is going crazy about buying the Surface 3 just yet as opposed to the cute, must-have, hip accessory that the rMP is to some.

Not for a huge public company who wants to keep investors happy. Apple doesn't need such tactics, they would rather have a huge revenue boost to post on their quarterly report.

Investors are happy with profit. You push back initial sales estimates and quickly ramp up production, suddenly every impulse buyer is pulling out their CC because of that "lucky find" macbook that "nobody can get their hands on"

"Apple doesn't need such tactics"

Honestly, if they thought it'd drive up profits, they'd be sacrificing bunnies to a new moon and torturing their own mothers. They're a corporation. They're evil.

Sadly, I'm too weak willed to fight the machine. . and WAAAY too addicted to tech :D

Scarcity marketing works for unique items such as unique whiskeys where there is not a substitute and they can command a higher price because of it. People are willing to pay more for a unique brand like Pappy Van Winkle and the scarcity means they can fill that niche level of whiskey that few can compete in. PVW becomes a legend that they can charge a fortune for and people won't just buy a bottle of Jack Daniels as a substitute. Tech is not the same, even for Apple.

With something like this, not only is Apple not charging more for it because it is rare, but they are losing sales. I have a month to think about my purchase, it gives me a lot more time to switch to another brand, or a lower margin rMBP. Sure there are those Apple devoted shoppers who will wait, but there are others who won't. Launches like this are bad for Apple.

When next quarters results come out and Mac revenue is flat the financial media is going to jump on it. No tech company wants to push back sales forecasts because they couldn't meet demand. There is zero profit in that and it makes them look like they can't manage their supply chains.

Microsoft is aggressively advertising against Apple, it's going to hurt sales if a person is unsure what to get and they find out they can't even get a MacBook until June. Apple just made their decision easier.
