I don't care about ubiquity. But what I care about is that I've since the first iphone felt that apple is superior to the other phones and tablets - but it comes with an extra cost. Now for the first time ever I feel they have been passed by HTC and also even Samsung (if it hadn't been for their crappy plastic build quality).
THe HTC one looks as good as the iphone, has a better screen and pretty much everything inside it is better. Those saying that the iOS is easier to use or more fluid, they haven't really tried it. And right now I fear apple has started sleeping during class, being too arrogant instead of competing (arrogant I mean, sticking with smaller screen, lack of useful features, too little choices for the user, etc)...
I know I sound like someone marketing Android, I'm not. I'm probably going to stick with an iPhone for quite a while. But if Apple evolve this slowly I'm afraid people will start open their eyes pretty soon for other hardware. Personally I feel an iphone 5s with the same screen and everything the same except a slightly faster processor and better camera won't do much at all. At least I hope iOS will have a significant improvement. If its a flatter design of the same features, then Apple has truly stopped innovating.

Fortunately I am one of the coolest people ever to grace the face of this planet so this more than makes up for my uncool iPhone. If I was chocolate I'd eat myself, not the phone though. :)

I think it is great that iOS is the main mobile platform. It has the most apps, accessories etc, just like Windows had with the desktop market.

Eh. I wouldn't quite make this comparison. Things are/were a lot more heavily skewed towards windows than they are toward iOS today...

It's a phone get over it, tired of the whole innovation thing. If your bored with a phone then you have too much time on your hands or not using it properly.

I know right? Just like the ios is boring thing, it's "almost" like getting bored with the cover or font of a book-or the cabinet on the TV. Of course one could always improve the placement of the on/off buttons, volume etc.

It's possible but Apple isn't a "luxury" brand

perhaps not a luxury brand. but it's certainly lost some of the nerd coolness that it used to have. obviously the brand transition hasn't hurt sales at all so it's not a problem.

it's a good thing they have an anonymous forum member to tell them how to manage their brand

So you're saying that just because everyone has an iPhone now that it's not cool? Who cares what people use. If it works for you be happy. If you wanna be cool go to blackberry and windows and deal with horrible app selection.

cool is whatever you want it to be. what's wrong with deciding that the iPhone is no longer cool because the masses are now using it? it's no more or less arbitrary than the process we've all used since we were in kindergarten.

there´s many things you can do to improve the startscreen. Have you tried other new smartphones? I´m not saying iphone is bad, but there´s definately room for improvement.

Uh, we are on a forum about iphone. If you find the whole thing so little important to you, why do you even hang out here ? Tired of innovation ? you can still buy the old dumb-phones you know.

Yet everyone else seems to be good with it since iPhone has by far the highest loyalty, retains its value the best, and the ecosystem makes dramatically more money than Android or anything else.

Apple and iOS has become synonymous with smartphones and tablets but has only one product per line of business. Therefor it’s the same hardware you see people with and it’s becoming ubiquitous. They are gorgeous products, they work seamlessly, but they’re everywhere. And for me it’s destroying the perception of brand value.

Wow. Android fanboys claimed that people bought Apple products because they wanted to feel special and cool. I always thought it was hyperbole. You proved me wrong and them right.

I buy Apple products and I don't feel special and cool... I want my money back!
:(

Who cares? It shows that they are good products, when you don't see anybody with your phone or tablet, is when you should worry.

Yes, because ubiquity killed the Window's OS as well.

And matching eye color.
