Scratches on the underside of your laptop? That's what you worry about? Maybe you do have OCD. My girlfriend is the same way (not that she has OCD but she cares about how things look even if no one is ever gonna see them.)

Me? While I don't seek them out, I consider scars and wear damage on my stuff as a badge of proof that shows me that I'm really taking advantage of what my stuff has to offer. It shows that I'm really using them in a way that conforms to my needs and desires. It shows that my stuff is serving me, rather than the other way around.

mine has a big ol scratch on the bottem. Ive gotten to like it! Its like a battle scar

Now if my car was scratched, I would do something because water -> rust. I wouldn't care about a scratch on the bottom of my mbp. :)

So far, mine has NON! :):):)
However the BodyFlim ain't so lucky, it's covered, I even have rice encrusted on it.. Perhaps i'll replace that someday...

l, in reality, I basically treat it like my baby

ha same here.
my friends leave there stuff at the desk. i pack up the mbp and leave my books and stuff and do not leave it anywhere.

ya you should have tried gelaskinz. maybe buy one and cut it to work on bottom

I have one big scratch at the bottom of my MBP. I am lucky in a way that it is exactly over the battery. So once I exchange the battery I will be fine.

Sorry to hear this, but you could give apple sauce polish ago

I would be careful with this product on an ALUMINUM MBP. According to the website above, the product, Apple Sauce Polish, is for IPOD's and only on the plastic and CHROME backs.

It specifically says: 'Not recommended for use on metal body of the latest generation of iPods."

I did not see any other product listed for computers.

FYI

An Apple is an Apple, Right?

DOH!

Tried to get a picture of it but it doesn't seem to want to show up well for the camera.

It's just a THING. Don't worry about it. Doesn't effect the performance. Pics?

Sorry, can't help it -- the 'thing' was expensive. :p One picture above, I'll have to wait until tomorrow morning and snap a good picture then to see if it shows up because it's almost 1 AM here now and the flash going off on my camera is going to wake up the girlfriend (who, in turn, will tell me to get away from the 'thing' as she likes to call it).

i can see it in the first picture :(:( im sorry

Sorry, I can't see what you're talking about in the picture? It looks fine to me, but I might be missing something.

As for the "thing" comment - just trying to make you feel better about it. I'd be disapppinted to but if you keep in mind it really is just a "thing" it won't bother you as much (slowly anyways...).

So, I decided to clean all of the dust and what not off my computer today and took a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to the spot that had gotten scratched, very carefully with a little elbow grease and the eraser I managed to get rid of it (or somehow blend it in with the rest of the casing) and then used a microfiber cloth with some cleaning solution to wipe the whole case down along with the screen and it looks like brand new again. Woohoo :D

Exactly as often...

How often do scratches happen, even to the most careful of individuals? Are they just a fact of life when it comes to the MacBook Pro?
They will happen "exactly as often" as you do something to scratch it!! It is really just another tool to use.. wrap it up, keep it safe and enjoy it... It will still work the same until you start dropping it/ abusing greatly!!
