Hi Steve. I need a favor. I am new to the IPhone, having recently purchased an IPhone 4. My previous Blackberrys and Droids had missed call/text alerts. You must know that many, many people really want this feature. I have a deal for you:

I promise that I won't complain about the battery going down a little when this program runs in the background. I also am not going to ever jailbreak my phone to get this capability. Please help us. Thanks.

I highly doubt that Steve will ever read your post...

I guess I don't get it. But this is kind of silly. I, like others - who are seemingly in the minority, just don't understand why this is such a big deal.
You're right, most people appreciate missed call alerts:
  • Perhaps they missed an important call before and don't wish to again.
  • Perhaps they have other things to do than babysit their phone.
  • Perhaps they've had this common feature before.
You know how I know whether or not I have missed calls? I check and see.

How do you know when you have a call at all?

Do you constantly pick it up and say "hello? hello?" to check and see?

No, the phone RINGS. It ALERTS you to a call so you do NOT have to keep checking it. :)

A missed call alert is just an extension of a ring. A device should serve you, not the other way 'round.

The phone does alert you, it says so right on the screen.

So you guys want some sort of physical light on the body of the phone to "alert" you of a missed call? Well, then in that case I say the light should be a continuous LED strip around the entire perimeter of the phone. I mean, heaven forbid you pull your phone out of your pocket and the light isn't always facing you directly (in which case you'd to *gasp* re-orient the phone to check the light). What if you set your phone down on the table while "not babysitting" it and you don't have a direct sight line to the missed-call light? In which case you'd have to check anyway. Continuous LED light strip, baby!

You've gotta be pretty aloof if it doesn't dawn on you to check your phone for missed calls if you haven't had it in your possession for an extended period of time. Just sayin'..

This is not the same thing at all. A ring alert is because there is someone on the other end of the line. With a missed call alert, they've gone...

My biggest complaint is I wait 15 minutes for a email and then do not hear the WEAK notification that it has arrived. What does Apple do, they give us multiple notifications that we can't hear! LOL!

How hard could it be to really fix that?
