And yet, Samsung had to lay off 20% of their workforce recently. Lol. There's a reason why Apple takes 90% of the profits in the entire mobile industry.

Right on, OP. That's exactly how I want to stream movies and TV shows on Netflix.

I thought iPhone users only want a NEW DESIGN? Change the rear design and people will run to it. By the time Apple gets into VR, Samsung is into something else. By the time iPhone 8 in 2017 and the new iPad in 2018 gets released, Samsung already is into foldable displays. Do you see how quickly Apple got dusted with innovation?

You do the mandatory 2-3+ years of waiting with Apple. Then when it finally arrives, Apple's mortal sin with sloth was all part of the plan for iPhone users. That Samsung was the copycat when they really have been pushing the industry much further than Apple has done in the last five years. Apple doesn't think that far ahead. They lack a visionary.

The defenders will just say, we will just wait when the technology matures. Let Samsung be the guinea pigs. Apple will refine it. That's equal to waiting and then tracing over someone else's artwork. The previous artist did MOST OF THE WORK and R&D, yet, fans will still credit Apple for doing it the best. Excusing Apple's procrastination for being years late to the party.

^ You didn't think Samsung was THAT BIG, did you? They have their own military division and city. I will keep posting that video in different threads to educate people and Samsung haters who think Samsung is small and are only into electronics.

Fanboys are small-minded where they can't even decide between a space black and space blue iPhone 7. Apple doesn't think THAT BIG anymore. Always too little, too late. But still making money because ignorance (with their audience) is bliss for them.

iPhone 7 is getting dust/water-resistance. There were dust/water-resistance in rugged phones for many years before but the Sony Xperia Z was the first to market the feature on a flagship in early 2013. iPhone 7 is getting wireless charging. Palm Pre already had it in 2009 with Touchstone. Nexus 4 had it in late 2012 with Qii.

Wrong!

http://www.consumerreports.org/smar...fails-consumer-reports-water-resistance-test/

The iPhone 7 reported to have LONG EANGE WIRLEESS CHARGING, Qii and others are largely useless in a phone!

No. It is not Apple waiting to perfecting the technology. Apple is just waiting someone do it first then learn from other and see if the market is growing or not. Apple then come out some products claiming to be world first and brainwash people to think they revolutionilzed the market.

Bs!

Example TouchID: others came with the idea of using a fingerprint sensor. Apple actually perfected the technology to a sensor that detects fingerprints by tough, always works, and fingerprints can't be hacked out of phones memory like Samsungs and Motorolas before.

whxnwha.gif

They dissed Apple and made fun of it, doubted it, called "unnecessary", now every flagship and not only those, comes with a similar fingerprint reader!

And Apple does not really always come out exceptional product. Their Apple watch is crap or at least not any different than other smart watch. Their Maps solution is crap also.

Crap?

The Apple Watch is the only smartwatch that doesn't suck.

"Not any different of any other smartwatch"?

Are you kidding me?

Not even after a full year, Android or Samsung has catched up!

They don't have WiFi, Bluetooth accessories, Apps, NFC Payments, Water Resistance, Wireless + Magnetic charging, Tool-less watch bands, 326dpi OLED screen 3-subpixel, reliable HRM. None has these features combined, none even comes close!

Apple-Payapplewatch.jpg

Apple waited so long then came up with iPad Pro. It is not any better than Surface Pro and it is far from exceptional products.

The Surface Pro is a flop of only $1B sales and Microsoft said that journalists (and people) would be using SP's instead of MBA's!

They are crooks, liars, and incompetent.

They couldn't make their Microsoft Courier, they reverted to putting a laptop in a tablet-like shape! It doesn't work without a keyboard! It doesn't have a battery life like an iPad 1! It is many things, but a competent product, full of bugs that brings NOTHING to the market, but an expensive laptop!

Fingerprint sensor is nt Apple's invention nor is Apple first one to use fingerprint sensor.

And iPhone's fingerprint sensor is not the fastest one.

That still does not change Apple Watch is almost as useless as Android watch. There is not much difference between Apple Watch can do and Android watch can do.

I also do not see the value using Apple Watch to do payment. I have my phone in my pocket.

You need see that trend. Surface Pro sale is going up year and year bases. Where iPad sale is going down year over year bases.

iPad Pro is nothing but an iPad with stylus.

Also, I have Microsoft Surface Pro before from work. Your claim about it does not work without mouse and trackpad is completely false.

I rather have Surface Pro to do all the things I want, than buying an half-assed product like iPad Pro

This is of course in your humble opinion. Apple if you follow the company does not "learn" from others. They design a new process around something that has been done before. It's called: innovation.

And what you consider "crap" others think is great. There's room for all opinions, though.

It is not called innovation. It is called wait and see what is working and what is not working. Apple is good at observing the market and making refinement.

Apple like call it innovation, but it is just marketing stuff.

Apples is actually the best and most accurate and easiest to use. And it may not be the fastest but people complain it's too fast. The reminder of your post In an opinion piece, which is fine.

And yes, it's exactly innovation, if it walks like a duck etc. And why are you comparing the iPad to Microsoft surface pro? Who cares? They are two different devices with a small intersection of function, each with their own strengths and weakness. Regardless of the hyperbole from the manufactures neither replaced another.

Here is why I don't think VR is the future (at least not yet)

- The best VR experience comes with a hefty price tag(Oculus, SonyVR, etc). We're talking $400.00+ for a VR headset that is anchored to a PC/Console that only 1 person can enjoy at a time (no social element yet).
- I doubt "mobile" VR even comes close to the real VR experience stated above.
- If you thought Google Glass was socially awkward imagine seeing people on a bus/train with these things strapped to their faces.

- VR needs more applications beyond personal entertainment to bring value to the masses.

Personally, I think Augmented reality is the future if engineers can somehow make eyewear that doesn't look like Jordy's headgear from Star Trek.

Samsung Gear VR does augmented reality. There are a few apps that support it.

Problem is finding usefulness for it. To the best of my knowledge the apps are just gimmicks and things to play around with, nothing of any substance.

However the ground work is already laid. It's in the hands of the devs to make it worthwhile.

Oh and how dare you! I'd wear jordys headset to bed if they made it for VR. :D

Seriously? What involving with TouchID?

First, when you register TouchID, how many time do you have to touch the finger print sensor? I can tell you lot more than what you need with Android.

Second: Lots of Android phones' fingerprint senors are always on. Like Nexus 5X and 6P. All you need to do is touch the sensor then it unlock. With iPhone, you need press the touchID then iOS unlock.

Third: TouchID 2 maybe faster. TouchID 1 is midcore at best. Not only it is slower than most Android phone, but it often misread the print.

Forth: if you pay attention to Android world, you will noticed that fingerprinted sensor not only used for unlock the phone, but used for other stuff. For example: On Meizu's phone, you can tap the fingerprint senor for as home button, you can also use as back and forward when you on browser.
The new Huawei Honor 8, the fingerprint senior can be used for lunching camera, used for programming different tasks.

In the end. Apple's touchID isn't the fastest, nor it is the most accurate. It is still lot the easiest to use.

I can only speak for myself and some of the forum posts that discuss this, but I'm not sure where you get your information from. The darn thing is accurate, more accurate than the competition. And you're argument about "lots of android phones"? Two phones with a small market niche? Apple has juxtapositioned the scanner on the iPhone so that as I take the phone out of my pocket, it's already unlocked. Doesn't need to be faster than that.

Touchid 1st generation 5s and 6. This is that what all the manufacturers were killing themselves to copy. You don't like it fine, but it was an innovators-innovation.

The 1st generation is not really accurate. Misread happens often, at least with my iPhone SE and 5S.

Everyone knows TouchId will not work with wet finger. But at least my Nexus 5X and 6P will work with wet finger.

I've owned the 5s and now 6s. Got the 5s in Nov. 2013, my own experience is that a wet finger use case is a non-issue. You can cite it as an internet talking point, but the ability to unlock it as I take it out of my pocket, negates any wet finger issue. As in any generation i vs generation 2 issue, the hardware got better, but I didn't really have an issue with mis-reads on my 5s.

The bottom line is touch id set the bar very high in 2013.

If VR involves slapping a helmet on your head, it's not really there yet. If wireless charging can only be achieved by putting your phone on a pad, it's not really there yet.

I'd rather they waited until they could crack it; until it's a little beyond a niche gimmick.

Good luck my friend experiencing VR without some sort of head gear.

How on earth are you going to have a 360 totally immersed experience if you can see your bedroom walls etc..

Or is is.just naff because Samsung have produced something cool?

I was thinking the other day that Apple is dropping the ball here because the only reason I am interested in getting a new phone is to be able to use Gear VR.

But given that the Olympics are not being broadcast through it here, I put it on hold. Also, not cool releasing the new goggles version after they started. Samsung FAIL.

I didn't say it was naff and I certainly didn't say anything about Samsung. I said that it wasn't quite there yet. If you need to slap a headset on your face for VR, that isn't there yet.

And again, human ingenuity is almost unstoppable when the seed of inspiration has been planted. Technology is expanding at such a vast rate – even when simply considering hardware horsepower in portable devices. Think what we have seen in a decade. It's amazing.

"How are you going to do it without headgear" is the wrong question to ask. You've already limited your options and your thinking.

"How do we do it like Star Trek" is the right question. Look at the vision. The unthinkable. If it takes 20 years, it takes 20 years. That's how it historically has been with all technology.

Don't work towards the future from the limitations of the present. Look towards the future and work backwards from there. :)

Innovation: the act or process of introducing new ideas, devices, or methods.

Are you under the impression innovation means "First one to do it?"

Based on your understanding no car company can be "innovative" if they introduce a better or more efficient Anti-lock braking system because Mercedes invented it back in 1978.

My pre-order of the latest updated Samsung Gear VR Headset shipped today... arriving tomorrow. I'm upgrading my PC Gaming rig this year... and this is a cheap way to try VR if it's worth the price for PC gaming. Oculus Cinema looks interesting. Seen some video's that 3D movies work in the 3D theater environment. Most likely it will collect dust next to my NVidia 3D glasses... but cheap way to give it a try compared to buying VR for my PC Gaming rig.

Got my Gear VR Oculus this morning. I think it's a pretty good Novelty item. Only got to play with 360 videos and watched parts of movies in 3D environments (movie theater/living/mancave room) just to explore. Actually enjoying it... I will try VR Gaming later tonight or next week. It is pretty decent for mobile devices... I didn't think it would suck since Oculus VR guru John Carmack was involved. Family members loves it... not sure if I would get it for my future iPhone. If I invest in VR, it will be on my PC gaming rig. Not the best accessory I bought for my S7 Edge.... Samsung wireless fast chargers dock/stands are favorite purchases.
