I'm not sure if anyone played or was following Bioware's Anthem but i found this video interesting. its long and I personaly skipped to 20:30

From this video, it appears they're still actively working on this game to reboot it, but I have to say the door has closed on this game and I can't see how a nearly 2 year hiatus will be a positive thing. People have moved on and are not interested, any and all communications about Anthem have generated zero buzz

Did it ever hit retail?
The game did, and it flopped harder then Fallout 76. After months of trying to do quick fixes, they promised to do a massive update and re-do the game. That complete re-do is what was killed and so now the game itself is done. I'm not sure if they shut down the servers but its clear that there's no future for this.

I think the rose is off the bloom for live service games. I'd say Fallout 76 to be a success story, even with their bugs and their hugely buggy roll out. The reason why I say that is simple. The game is still active. You're not seeing too many games being announced that are live service but just around fallout 76 and anthem everyone was jumping on the bandwagon. They have their place but its not a slam dunk for publishers.

I just hope the next Bethesda game is not subscription based.
