I've lived in CA my entire life. I would say that the threats of us falling off into the ocean during the next big one have desensitized me to this. :D

Yep, it's the end of the world as we know it. And I feel fine. And Lenny Bruce is not afraid.

And neither am I.

This is basically Y2K II: Mayan Boogaloo

I love that song. :D It was great in the beginning of Independence Day.

I've got heavy bets that the world won't end in 2012. That way, if I'm right then I'll get a big payoff, and if I'm wrong I won't be here to have to settle my debts.

I had something ready to post here but realized just in time that it might land the thread in another forum... political junkie that I am.

So on second thought: No. Why would the world end with four more shopping days 'til Christmas. Never happen.

As I said in another thread about this, why is this one being taken so seriously (to some) when all other non-South American ones have been wrong? Silly internets!

So supposedly the world is supposed to end on Dec. 21 2012 or should I say the Maya Calendar ends then. Is this just another Y2k or is this one for real?

Its not necessarily the end it is more of a reseting on the calender. You should look more into the mayan calender. It could be the end it could not be if it is i will be pissed having wasted all of my time in college for no good reason:(

I stand corrected - thanks for the link and the history. I guess what I meant was they're no longer a separate state, they don't practice their beliefs the way they used to (are they the ones with the human sacrifices or was that the Aztecs?) and stuff like that. I could have worded it better. :)

The human sacrifices was all of them for the most part. I believe

I could call this a Zombie thread, but today (much awaited Dec 21st, 2012 in Australia and surrounding regions right now, but still Dec 20th in other areas like London, New York, Hawaii) there are people who are worried.

This is the start of the next Mayan cycle which is no different than the modern day changing over from December 31st to January 1st. The line up of stuff in the sky on any Dec 21st is normal and if anything the most items lining up recently was back in 1998 and nothing happened.

Over here in the USA, we do have a few important things happening from the fiscal cliff talks all the way to commenting about the fake golden eagle/toddler video and that's what is featured on CNN. One would think this day would get some major headlines, but it didn't. Y2K got more press. The serious preppers and doomsday fans are more worried about the real issue of global warming and what it could mean in increased and more violent hurricanes (Hurricane Sandy) than any single event on Dec 21st 2012.

So the remote island of Kirimati is already 1/4th of the way through that day and Tokyo entered the 21st with no giant, walking reptile. If Gozilla overslept there's always New York to eat.

BREAKING NEWS From New Zealand: World not ending...

December 21, 2012 is upon us. Some of us, at least. While those of in America may have to wait another day to see if the world ends in fiery cataclysm New Zealand is already there. According to Twitter, the world is not ending. Here’s a few:

Sail by The Stars: So apparently the people of the future, new zealand, are reporting that absolutely no doomsday type events are occurring. Very surprising…

Steve Dangle Glynn: I texted my friend in New Zealand this morning, which is weird because the Mayans should have killed him by now.

JAN: I don’t care if it’s already the 21st in New Zealand. The world ends in America’s timezones. Have you ever watched an apocalypse movie?

You heard it here first!!

Guys relax its not the 21st. I recently unearthed a calender at home that runs out on the 31st. We have 10 more days.

I wonder what photos of the earth, taken from space, look like when the world has ended in the eastern hemisphere but not yet in the western hemisphere.

Maybe like this?
