my first post here
Been admiring all the wonderful desktops here for months before I got my 1st Mac in October, a 15" 3.06GHz MacBook Pro 5,3! I love it... my Father says that's because,
and this is going to date me, it reminds me of the Atari ST. Once he said that it clicked, it does! So yes, I've been a geek for quite a long time (Actually started on an Atari 800 with 64KB of RAM...
I know 64 WHOLE KB!).
Anywho, I thought it would be cool to post my December desktop as my first post so here it goes...
I created this custom desktop myself in Photoshop. I know, other than the green color, that it's not very "holiday-ish" but I like it. If you would like a copy of this please send me a PM and I'll email it to you. I did this rather than hosting it myself to kinda get a finger on how "popular" it is so that I can decide to make more or not.
The icon in the middle is a mythosaur skull taken from the right shoulder piece of Boba Fett's armor.
"The traditional Mandalorian crest, frequently mistaken for a Bantha Skull, bears a striking resemblance to the skull of a male mythosaur. But in truth, the symbol was actually adopted in reverence to a legendary Mandalorian combat-training master." (Source: "History of the Mandalorians," Star Wars Insider #80)
Custom application icons were used for Finder, Mail (
Star Wars: A New Hope), Safari (
Pith Helmet & Machete), iTunes (
Headphones), VLC Media Player, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, World of Warcraft Launcher (
Custom icon by me) & Gmail (

GeekTool is of course used for the Date / Time, Hard Drive Information, IP Information & Weather. Date / Time font is FairydustB and the Hard Drive Info, IP Info & Weather font is Lucida Grande.
DateLine is used for the calendar above the Dock.
Bowtie is being used for the iTunes information bar at the top. I'm using
