I bought mine on a whim, half expecting to eBay it. But I am actually surprised how much I like it. If I want to use iPad for an extended period or for gaming its just great to be able to pull it off and throw to one side. Shame it won't stick to the back when open, buy hey ho.

I think it's the best we have for now. It seems apple only informed the third party manufacturers of the dimensions, not the magnets, of the iPad 2 pre-launch so now they are all scrambling to produce their own designs that make use of the magnets. So soon we will see many products that well exceed the smart cover. I think that's apples plan - show what can be done and then let the third party firms run with it. Cool accessories have always been a driving force for apples products, but sometimes apple has felt the need to kick start stuff.

When that happens I will buy something else and eBay the smart cover. Until then it will do. I'm not crying about it FFS, some people should get a grip IMO.

Still baffles me that people list 'no back protection' as a negative. It's a screen cover. You can see when ordering this that it's a screen cover. Why then moan when you use it and shock horror, it only protects the screen.
As for the guy who posted the picture and tried to balance it on his knee, did he really expect the smart cover to defy gravity and stop it sliding down his leg?

I think it's great. Covers the most important part of the iPad, whilst only adding minimal size to the iPad. I hate these big leather case wrapped round the iPad, look and feel terrible and make the whole thing awkward.

And if I wanted the back covered, I'd get a sticky back protector. But I'm not that bothered if I get a slight mark on the back of my iPad, as it will never affect how it works.

I like my Smart Cover.

It does what it's intended, cover the screen. If I need to remove it, I remove it, not very hard to do. As for protecting the back, I got an iCarbon skin for that.

I like my smart covers as well, when I have it on the lap, I don't have to put the smart cover into a stand position because there isn't the need since it's already angled. most of the time I have it on my lap while watching tv and it has never gotten to be an issue. I watched the video and I think the commentar is expecting way too much for a simple cover. it may be overpriced (with any Apple branded product) but it DOES what it claimed it can do...

The more I use the smart cover, the more I like it. It is great in typing view, protects the iPad and has a great style. I don't know if it is worth the money, but I bought it anyway. Actually I am thinking to buy another one, as I have the gray cover, but I would like to have the orange one too.

I returned my Smart Cover. I found it more annoying than useful. I use an Incase BookJacket now, suits my needs much better.
