Buy today, return within 15-30? days if a new one comes out... I did this with a MacBook Pro... Purchased it and 18 days later a new one came out, they paid for the return shipping, restocking fee, gave me a $50 instant rebate card, and of course shipped the new one for free! It's a gamble, but if you "need" it, you need it...

I guess if your "loaded" just wait a week and buy it if it doesnt get refreshed.

Unfortunately not loaded...been saving for it for the last year :)

I've hooked up one of the monitors to the MBP and one to the iMac. I'll hold off for a bit - completely understand what you mean. I was disappointed when I got the iMac as 31 days after I bought it, the Alu iMac came out!

If you need the machine, buy it now.
I strongly believe that Mac Pro won't be updated next week, because next week is the supposed release of White iPhone 4. Apple won't want to divert any attention away from it.

Apple not releasing their overdue top-of-the-line professional hardware because an iToy is being released in a new color.

Man, if there is any truth at all to this, (I'd say unlikely, but it is possible,) that would be more than a little sad.

well..i suggest you to to wait,
(if you need to work...just buy it and don't listen to me)
today i was in a shop ,an Apple reseller,
the guy behind the desk told No Mac Pro was available anymore for order,
nor the substitution pieces for....the 09 ones,
then this
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/earningsq310/
The Apple financial report on 20/7/10...
and last but not least...
the "rumors " about new drivers on Mini/Nvidia Osx Drivers
Ati 5xxx and Nvidia 480...
so..perhaps its time for NEW MAC PRO's....
maybe...;)

...and the week after that is also taken, since Apple might have some limited edition hot pink iPhone 4 bumpers with butterflies on them. This obviously would take precedence over the MacPro as well.

Tuesday is becoming my sad day; I wake up hoping that new MacPro's are released. I gave up on a special event to introduce them a while ago, given Apples move into the consumer electronics space.

lol I legitimately had this nightmare 3 different times last night..... I Dreamed that I got up this morning checked the apple page and the mac pro came out today and I bought it and it was shipped and on the way...

Naturally....I was completely disappointed this morning when I really woke up and checked the mac page

Hehe unlucky...I did once dream that Steve came to my front door and said "and one more thing....here's a new iMac"..was a bit bummed when I realized it wasn't true! :p

I'm about to buy a Mac Pro but am not sure if I should hold off until next Tuesday to see if the update happens. I really don't want to wait indefinitely for an update that may not be coming at all.

I just got my nice new Samsung 24" screens arrive about half hour ago so am really, really wanting to get the Pro now!

I can either buy it now, or wait 1 week. However from what I've seen on here, people are expecting the new pro to have slower processors? I'm looking at the 8-core machine so am not sure how that affects it.

What would you do/recommend?

Cheers,

Rick

So far there are absolutely no significant rumors and no indications whatsoever that the MacPro will even be updated, let alone be released next week.

The buyers guide here is pointless. Even high paid analysts are just guessing and have been proved to be guessing. People have been 'waiting one more week' since the end of 2009 and you could easily be dong the same until 2011. IF you really NEED it - buy one now, if not don't.

Put it this way, we all stated the exact SAME arguments in the Mac Book Pro threads, do you wait, current models overprices, buy a Windows laptop, it WILL be next Tuesday, Apple are concentrating on iToys too much etc etc etc.

And then, rather unsurprisingly, they updated with all the features people wanted, the only things people are moaning about are the lack of Blueray and some are complaining about having Nvidia rather then ATI graphics.
But you can now buy the low end core i5 as many have to replace a Core 2duo 2.8.
And we even have Apples own graphics switching technology. So it proves to wait IMO, I now have my new baby and I only paid about £200 more then my 2.53 first gen unibody and I have a tope end Core i7 and a hi res screen!! Along with all the other new features Apple have introduced. So IMO the new machine is much better value.
But if you need the machine to make money then buy it. But from reading your posts it seems you can get buy for the moment?
