I'm really happy you felt the need to tell people on a Mac forum that you drive a fancy car.. next I'm sure you'll post pictures to "prove it" lol that really shows how little you really are.

Now on that note, your free to post what you want, that's the beautiful part of living in America. The xoom looks like a cool tablet, but it's a joke, people want to belive, it's almost as if they HAVE to believe, much like a God thing... At rhe end of the day, google just can't... Say it with me..... GOOGLE CANT!!

The web browsing is still jerky!! With it's 1Ghz tegra 2, it still can't zoom in and out smoothly.. But hey, I don't drive a 175,000 car, just a really nice Harley, what does this stupid biker know ;)

Perhaps because what you own and how fortunate one is is the only real instance in which this Freudian logic doesn't apply? If I was ashamed about what I own I wouldn't have bought it in the first place. Using facts to support my argument, never once did I brag. And I have never seen this jerkiness while browsing, at all. And before you spout Google can't, lets compare where Apple was when they had only been in the mobile OS market for the short period Google has. From my point of view, it's not "Google Cant" or "Google Can" its "Google Is." I'm not the only one transitioning from iOS to Android and loving it- escape the field from your Shepherd Steve, iSheep, and realize the grass is damn good outside of your restrictive fence.

I really shouldn't have put anything about my Harley, I sounded like a douch bag bragging about my fancy ride ;)

Isnt a big problem with the xoom I see people posting, that it renders webpages like a mobile "phone" device? I messed around with the xoom, it was jerky, and clunky, brought to us by a company that just doesn't know what they are doing, just look at the price... Really? If it didn't have flash, that means it wasnt ready, if it's not ready, don't shove it out the door! Perfect example of a company that dose not care, it's not ready!!! Don't release it!! I'm glad this isn't a car, or some sort of medical device!

The tablet came out not ready
The software came out not ready

So I'm not ready to buy

If and when some a company takes the time to build something beautiful, I'll switch, with no loyalty to apple... I like that HP is taking their time. It shows something, I think HP has a good shot at standing next the iPad with pride.

I am returning the Xoom the day after I buy the Ipad 2. As I've stated, its too heavy, I cant get used to 16x9, and I am totally bored with it...no fun apps to use...none. I had more on my gal tab. Not to mention I paid $853 for this one.
My dad picked it up today and first thing he said was "this is heavy". I know one I jailbreak the ipad ill be in love. Oh..honeycomb is like learning a Mac from a PC...totally different from froyo. I also got a crap ton of force closes today. This was a good test drive though..I think I am going to get the 32g I pad though, just so space will never be an issue for me. I have been partial to android, but I want a device thst makes me happy, regardless of the maker.

What about battery life?

Dont confuse my standing, I'll switch to google, when google make a quality OS, simply put, is the undeniable truth, IT'S NOT READY!!

If webOS comes out strong, I'm gonna have fun trying my options.

Google is not an option, I don't see how you can't see that?? It's not about being a "fanboy" I'm a fan of quality, is it safe to assume you a Porsche fanboy? Why ells would you spend that kind of cash? QUALITY!

What if when you bought your car they said, hey don't shift to 4th gear, it's not ready, give us a couple of months, oh and um, no driving over 60mph for a few weeks, Aaaand um, the seatbelt doesnt work. Have fun!

I'm sure you would demand for your money back...

After playing with the Xoom for 2 minutes, I put it down and that was it. It's not a smooth as the iPad. Android is still not as SMOOTH. I've yet to see it. It's slightly laggy and the layout is overwhelming. I think there's too much ***** cluttered up. Oh yeah, and it has a lot of weight. The form factor feels nice, it's just heavy.

You should hide the fact that you own a hardly! lol

I'm sorry my friend, but Harley place in American history is well known, I'm proud of my country, and everything that helped make it what it is today. It's a beautiful bike, builed apon a tried and true engine. Its not the best, that's not why I bought it, it's the history that the bike has, and the name will alway have...

For most folks it's going to be best to skip the 1st-gen Android tablets (similar situation to the G1)... get an iPad2, it will hold its resale better so you can sell it when the Android tablet h/w, s/w and OS mature sufficiently.

This poster is a very wise poster, I would follow you in to hell I would!!!

Oh yeah, and it has a lot of weight. The form factor feels nice, it's just heavy.

Both iPad 1 and Xoom (Wifi+3G models) weigh 1.6lb - Wi-Fi only iPad weighs 0.1lb less than Wifi+3G. So you have to to have a non-typical ( fanboyism induced might I add ;) ) weight sensitivity to claim what you did!

Oh and I own a Xoom - it is anything but laggy - smoothest Android release ever - the browsing experience itself completely outclasses the iPad.

It's not smoth man, its jerky, it always has been, it always.

Yes it's not smoth. Truer words never spoken.

HAHA!!! TOOO funny, I was on my friends xoom when I posted that! that's to funny..

Smooooooth, there, thats better, from ipad 1!!!

I'll leave it un-edited, I kinda like it like that. My friend is packing up his Xoom now, on our way back to best buy... :(

Oh, I forgot to add will be.....it always will be... ;)

does this settle it?

http://techcrunch.com/2011/03/05/ipad-2-xoom-fight/#

Since this thread is now a zillion pages, I'm not sure if someone else posted this link, but check out this scathing Xoom review on Tech Crunch from the regular Android proponent. Bottom line: "I could not recommend it in it's current form". Also some good initial feedback on IP2.

Honestly the Xoom in its current form is DOA. A pricier, thicker, heavier, tablet with a less developed buggy OS, and few apps and accessories. Let's face it there will be some awesome android tablets someday, but this ain't it.

Lol...I can't view that vid on my xoom...no flash. I also agree...there will one day be a very nice android tab, but this is out too soon, very little support to be it...going back!

Granted, i haven't play for a super long time on my sister's iPad or iPhone 4, but iPad web browsing has seemed pretty haphazard in comparison to iPhone 4 browsing. Zooming in and out is smooth, but scrolling up and down is dangerous, can crash Safari, cause it to randomly tell itself to reload the entire page. This is especially true when you move around in tabs - I haven't experienced iPhone 4 do this when I have a bunch of windows/tabs open.

Regarding the Xoom, did you really not see how close it is to desktop class browsing? I'm not sure you can really say the same about an iPad. Safari is a weak point in the device, and I think you know it.

I will grant you that the overall smoothness of OS still goes to iPad, which is amazing since it's comparitively a year older.

This is how retarded you are. You too do not fully understand the concept of what Apple is trying to do.

You said it yourself above about the web browser.

Apple is trying to move us all away from web browsers and make fast food app versions of those same websites. Difference is that Apps are faster than regular webpages and still get you to where you need to go.

Having a regular website is nothing special. The App store approach is far proven by now but you, Motorola and Samsung do not get it!

LOL at your post. Besides compare Xoom to the Alienware M11x. Because the iPad was never about gaming in the first place. If I wanted gaming on a portable I would have bought the PSP Go or the next Sony PSP 2 or NGB.

Also another thing. I don't want to own a device that has a little kids looking Mascot drawing and calls itself the Droid. How can anyone take that seriously and even more so if Motorola the king of crap products is behind it.

I like you... Do you like me?

You would have to be an idiot to buy a Xoom compared to the iPad 2. If iTunes is really such a terrible problem for you then jailbreak the iPad. Android devices aren't any better than iOS devices unless they are jailbroken too.

Being the smoothest Android experience doesn't say much, it still scrolls and moves poorly compared to iOS devices.

Motorola is barely hanging on as it is. They are not selling it at a loss. But they aren't making much form it either.

Xoom is a better value for hardware, as Motorola is likely selling it at a loss.
The software really is a personal decision, but my 30 minute experience with Xoom at Best Buy was a pretty good one.

Being a Mac person, I'd miss the integration to iTunes, but that's me.

I would be very surprised to see Motorola retain $1 of profit from the $539 price point they are promising. They do not have Apple's economies of scale, nowhere close to it. This is like the XBox and inkjet printer strategy, except Motorola doesn't make any profit from software licensing (Google does), and has no inkjet cartridges to sell at high markup.

If anything, they MIGHT win themselves some brand loyalty by undercutting price and getting more users, but I believe brand loyalty for Motorola, even a generation from now, would be quite a challenge. Look at what happened with RAZR.

While the poster was wise....I won't be following him to hell. You may if you wish.

But he's very much right. Honeycomb with the xoom or galaxy tab 10.1 and the rest are all very much 1st gen android tablets. It is very very much like how it was with the G1.

We all need to wait for the android tablet equivalent of a HTC Evo 4G.
The hardware and software of THAT android tablet is sure to be absolutely AWESOME!

Until then, I would recommend the iPad 2. And yes, I'm sick and tired of the baby UI of iOS.
I'm betting though that iOS 5.0 will be much more sophisticated.

Of Course I do. :)

Don't bet on it... I'm with you 100% but I'm betting that 5.0 will be like 3.0 to 4.0 good, nothing groundbreaking..

I am definitely getting the iPad over the Xoom!

In fact I am not in the US and couldn't even wait until March 25 th so I preordered mine on that website and I will get it on March 13th!

http://www.ipad2worldwide.com/

I don't know what website you preordered from, but nice find...

That is unfortunate. I'm hoping that android tablets increase in sophistication and starts taking some marketshare (eventually) because it would seem that would be the only motivation for Jobs to evolve iOS to match the competition in terms of UI.
