Not surprised. It was only a matter of time. iPhones have been stale for a long time now and the smoke and mirrors are beginning to fade. The branding keeps Apple afloat but as consumers become wiser, they will choose different products that are more innovative.

Apple had their run and milked it for all its worth. They were able to get away w/ minimal changes and knew people would still buy it (strike while the iron is hot). That snooty attitude is bound to catch up.

Apple could dump Samsung and they would hurt way more than Apple. Apple does not put its eggs in one basket.

The last iPhone is a fantastic device btw.
You're wasting your breath/energy with Axo. Trust me. ;)

That post really creeps me out. It's a sort of weird 1984 group-think mentality where war is peace, etc.

The iPhone used to be good. Past tense. Today, it is basically an expensive locked down mid-range Android phone. HTC's new flagship really is better in every way.

Specs matter, they really do, regardless of how much koolaid you drink. It's why my 1 year old 6 Plus with its puny 1GB of RAM is already choking and freezing and my Galaxy S6 is still ridiculously fast. No amount of clever advertising or koolaid can fix bad specs.

Apple relies on Samsung way more than the reverse. You do realize, a lot of the chips in an iPhone are from Samsung right? I don't see anything from Apple in the S7.

The flagship Galaxy phones have come with 32GB base model for a while now, Apple is still stuck in 2011. The iPhone 6 Plus I bought last year (with a paltry 1GB of RAM) is now uselessly slow. Seriously, trying to use Safari on it is a nightmare, it's an awful phone. But my Galaxy S6 is still wicked fast. More RAM, more storage, WAYYYYYY better display, the list goes on and on...

Specs matter. And most of the Apple fanboy criticisms of Android really don't work anymore. Android 6.0 is amazing, it's buttery smooth, fast, and has way more features than ios.

I've owned iphones since 2007, and if Apple hadn't screwed up with such awful disgusting specs these past few years I would still be buying them. But seriously, the iPhone these days is a truly awful device.

I think (IMHO) part of the problem is iOS. Apple are adding more and more features (even if they are behind Android) whilst expecting 1GB of RAM to be "acceptable".

If you overload the horse before long it'll collapse...

You mistake me for a fanboi. I simply asked what the benefits were.

As far as I can tell, the benefit of a curved screen is this:

When you are in a situation where you can look at your phone, but for some reason the phone is placed screen side down, you can see notifications on the curve at the side of the screen.

I have never been in this situation yet though.

Its funny how some people like the poster you replied to reach the conclusion that Apple users are hypocritical fanbois - its often if one person says they don't like something, and someone else entirely later says they do like something = Apple Fanboi - as though the views of any individual somehow always represent the views of everyone.

I'm sure I had the same thing thrown at me about the larger screens, as I expressed an opinion that I preferred smaller screens. Did I end up buying an iPhone 6? Nope. A 6S? Nope. An SE? Yup.

And even if I do end up buying a larger screened iPhone at some point, it won't necessarily be because I prefer a larger screen - it will be because, having weighed up all the pros and cons, I'll have decided the larger screened iPhone comes out top, even if I might have some reservations about the screen size.

And even then - if I do decide I quite like, or prefer, the larger screen after all - it wouldn't make me a hypocrit - I would simply have changed my mind. Which is allowed for anyone else, except an Apple user who would obviously be a hypocrite and a fanboi.

Sorry, rant over.

I'm only speaking as a consumer.

Tim Cook has every reason in the world to release a useless product if he believes enough people can be fleeced of their money. The guy is still releasing 5400 spinners in $2500 computers in 2016.

Whilst I take your point, is there a reason you rounded $1499 up to $2500?

hyoerbole much? 1984 really? I love working with my 6s, it's fast and the ease of "just works" of some the features especially FaceTime and iMessage with family scattered all over the place.
Your lucky with your s6, people post on these forums it sputters and lags 2 minutes after activating it.

You may not be a Apple customer anymore, might want to tell TC so he can cry in his soup./s

In this analogy, Apple is the Honda Civic. Super tiny, underpowered, cheap build, flimsy controls leaving it a clunky experience.

Dell (Alienware?) would be a Ferrari. powerful, flashy, and all about the experience.

The new 2016 civic is actually pretty nice

And just not engineered as well iPhone. In the meantime while dell struggles, Honda is the most valuable company and brand in the world.

I am invested in the Apple Ecosystem, have iMac's, iPad's (every person in our household), iTunes content, iPhones, etc.

I need to renew my contract soon and this is the first time I am feeling that choosing the 6s Plus is choosing for yesterday's technology - if I compare it against de S7 Edge I feel it is everything I wish the iPhone 6s Plus had; I am leaning now towards replacing my 6 with a S7 Edge - by the time the iPhone has caught up (maybe) I might rejoin - you do have to appreciate that in this case competition is paying off.

You are the one drinking the koolaid here...

no.. I'm right. Normal adults won't waste money on an iPhone.. They need to change the model.

<pacification>

Okay, you're "right" - I'll agree so we can move on.

I must have missed the context on this nicely written hyperbolic point on why I upgrade my Idevices?

No provide no retort and today's earns are just a glimpse... and that is 65% of their sales... not good.

21.5 retina iMac base is $1900 and $2379 for upgraded ram and cpu in Canada. $2688 after tax for a computer with a 5400 spinner.

A nett

a better display and a better camera will get OLD? Really.. keep telling yourself that.
[doublepost=1461579641][/doublepost]

This isn't even news.. inferior screen, camera, video, design, and battery life compared to the s7 edge. Shall I go on, or are you happy living in denial.

-Better SoC.
-3D Touch
-Much better finger print.
-the s7 battery has like 800 mAh more so it makes sense that battery life is better.

Also you do understand the s7 is brand new whereas the 6s is half way through its life cycle?

Let's not talk about customer service and software.

Shall I go or are you happy living in denial?

Man this guy just talks out of his rear end but knows that every stupid rumor site will publish his stuff as though it's the gospel. There's not one thing in this research note backed up by facts.

I don't know, but to me it seems to me that "this guy" is with his predictions for 2016 off to a rather accurate start, after today's earning call. Don't you think?

That's where I stopped reading ...
Why? Do you doubt the claims that a device with 3 times the ram might actually perform better?

Denial? What of? If you are happy living in the world you currently reside. Good for you mate... I'll live in the real world.

I'm assuming that the end of subsidies hasn't help the downward trend either. I sell/upgrade every year. That may not happen this year. Maybe...

That's where I stopped reading ...

Look, I'm not switching to Android anytime soon but I have to agree with the one complaining about the ram. When websites can crash Safari and force a page reload is rather annoying and that definitely seems like something as a result of limited system ram.

Your overpaying, I'm not. I got my money's worth already.
That is your opinion. Let's just talk numbers, instead of feelings. What kind of premium device comes with
  • 750p display
  • sub-standard battery life
  • awful industrial design (ugly white bands, power button position, thick basel; relatively small screen size compared to size of body)
  • only 2GB of ram
  • 16GB storage, really???
If one product charge the highest premium, it better has the best component across the board. Numbers don't lie. It is a sub-premium device even with great integration between iOS and OS X. The hardware just speaks for itself.
