Did you try asking Fedex to return the case to the sender? i.e. rescind your acceptance because they didnt communicate the tariffs prior to delivery?

I've had the case a month. That's the annoying thing about it.

The tariff statement wasn't on the site when I ordered.

Try charge back on your credit card. Decoded misrepresented the final cost and never disclosed the tariffs were not included in the price when you purchased. Adding disclosure after the fact doesn’t cut it. Tell fed ex you never agreed to pay tariffs and they need to prove it. Decoded is basically sticking fed ex and they’re trying to pass to you. Fed ex should not have arbitrary paid tariff.

I really like how this looks but I haven’t bought from Decoded since my 13 Pro.

Anybody with more recent experience able to comment on quality as far as aging/patina goes?
I don't think decodeds leather will patina well. Its chromatic or anilin dyed leather. If it were veg tanned it would patina nicely. Chromatic or anilin leather won't patina well or patina at all ime. But maybe decodeds do?

THANK YOU for posting the updates about the fees.
I was so close to pulling the trigger on this case. Instead I decided to preorder the SANDMARC leather case instead for a little cheaper as well. $57 USD

I ordered both.

I stil have not received a tariff bill. I wonder if I will still get it eventually or if this is arbitrary and a matter of luck.

You could be right. I’ve had it a month now and I see no sign of change but to be honest I really like the color so it’s okay by me.

I’ve checked out all the leather cases, and they all seem a bit thin to me. I really like the texture and feel of leather, but I still want something more protective — after all, the main reason I buy a case is to keep my phone safe from drops. Hopefully, we’ll see a leather case in the future that offers better drop protection.

The Nomad Modern or Rugged should offer decent drop protection. A leather case is never going to be all that great for drop protection though. You get a leather case for the feel and scratch protection, not so much drop protection.

Unless it hits the camera bar. There is zero coverage there and its a fairy large section on the back of the phone.

This case does offer great drop protection though. I dropped mine on concrete twice. Once during Halloween and once at Disney. Phone is still perfect. It's not the same as an Otterbox, but I don't think Nomad Modern has an edge.

I stil haven't received a tarriff bill on the decoded case. I have a feeling they missed it.

Nor have I. Doesn’t make sense to me that the title of this thread should be scaring off customers based on one person’s experience. Or have more people received a bill?

I guess, speak for yourself? Atleast Wiiukas skiin more leather case I had almost four years on my iphone 13 offered great protection. I have dropped my phone like 50-60 times over the years everything from tiles, asphalt and pure gravel road and my phone has no damages. Just ones the screen protector got cracked after falling face down and managing to slide on the asphalt with some small gravel stones on. Phone itself no problems.

The leather of course have gotten some small gashes etc but since its darkened leather I just smoothed it with my fingers and its not noticable unless you look closely. I can't speak for all leather cases of course, I only have been using Wiiuka and also Nodus (before Nodus closed their site)

PS Your dogs (Basenji?) are super cuute!😍

Just looked up the Wilukas case. I like it. Too bad no option to buy in USA

I’m glad it did the job for you, but most leather cases are a thin layer of TPU with leather wrapped on, so they do tend to be less protective than other cases.

They are Shiba Inu. They are cute but can be a handful!

Sorry most have gotten a black out in my brain I don't know how I could mix the name up with Basenji🥴

Yes I know the leather is thin on most brands probably. The TPU case is supposed to be good quality on better brands and the leather on the brands I have used has not been too thin. TPU is supposed to absorb the shock and leather gives extra cushion, as said never had a problem with my iphone 13 and its made of aluminium :)

Yes the shop itself sells to few EU countries but they started to sell on European Amazon. Maybe they start to sell in US Amazon? Or maybe they are not gonna be able to keep the good quality if they go into bigger mass production:/

The super thin leather case you describe is a type of leather type but there are a wide set. and many are quite protective. It's just like plastic cases can be very thin and have no protection (e.g. bare cases) or can be quite thick and protective (like Otterbox Vault).

Good leather brands - Nomad, Bandwerk, Bullstrap, Lucrin offer a variety of styles which range from more protective to less protective.

Leather should not be associated with being more or less protective. it's just a surface treatment.

Yes exactly what I wanted to say! TPU is literally whats used for most plastic cases and the TPU for the leather cases I have used has been high quality and not cheap TPU. Good leather brands even often mentions details about the quality of their TPU.

Put Wuiika on that list :)
