Remember what day this is.Seen this a few times whilst browsing the forums. Clicking on it just goes to a new reply page. What gives?
Odd Buttons like "Ravage," "Disagree" and "Attest" Next to Post?
Uh? Today I've been getting random buttons (see screenshot) next to the Post button when browsing MacRumors in private mode or logged mode in.
Sometimes they disappear fast. The first one didn't say "Disagree" it had a bunch of "Z's" in it and I think it started with a "D." The second one started with an "M."
The third one says "disagree."
Is this some kind of experiment?

Apparently an April Fool's joke.
Freaked me out for a good 10 minutes!
Two that I came across - on two separate threads - read 'Applaud' and 'Attack'.
Now, I'll readily admit that 1) I hadn't noticed anything whatsoever until this thread and two others alerted me to the fact that these commands are appearing randomly at the bottom of some pages, and fora, and 2) I had clean forgotten about the date.
Well spotted.
Edit: Since I posted this earlier, I have come across 'Sneer', 'Protest' and 'Proclaim'……all in PRSI…along with the wonderful "Quote Out Of Context', 'Sidestep' and the inimitable advice 'Hedge'.

Ah - for the most fleeting of seconds - another word appeared at the very bottom of this thread which simply read 'Impugn'……to be followed by the equally brief exhortation of 'Mudsling'…..and 'Concur' has just magically appeared next …..and now, the verb, command 'Judge' has just put in an appearance…
This thread seems to stand quite a high chance of some strange verbs appearing at the bottom. The current one reads 'Take A Stand'……..and 'Sneer' (which I have already encountered this evening, elsewhere on these threads).
It does seem to me that the very word 'troll' in the thread title might fulfil the same function as a feeding station for birds, or gorgonzola cheese in a mouse trap, or honey bait for certain insects…….in that you set out the attraction and see them come.
In this case, it is commanding (and frankly sometimes bizarrely hilarious) verbs that are cheerfully paying a (an early April) visit, alongside the 'Post Reply' button…….

I have spotted quite a few of the ones you have posted, (but, by no means all of them) and have laid eyes on a few others.
'Hazard A Guess' has just shown itself at the bottom of this thread…….

Strategy or tactics? never mind, I am actually enjoying it. (Easily pleased? Perhaps.)
But collecting verbs in unexpected locations is wonderfully interesting, and more than a little amusing, too. And some of them are actually rather funny.
Actually, I'd love to see them repeated more frequently……..in some of the more impatiently and famously ill-tempered sub-fora, perhaps….

Agree with you both. Would very much like to keep them.
It might be a fun way of moderating - by way of offering 'orange light' style hints - certain famously frothing forums…..where the tone of debate is becoming more than a little extravagantly heated...
New forum software? Are we perhaps going to see Xenforo make an appearance? I was a mod on other forums when we changed over to Xenforo and it was quite fun.
But does it 'Ramble'? Or 'Plead'?
No, thought not…..but yes, it might run the risk (given my former profession) of turning into - or I might be accused of - giving a "Lecture"….
