What I expected was a fair shipping cost, like every other retailer does which is based on weight and/or cost of the item. What many of you are failing to realize is, that when Default ends their penny case special, the shipping fee will still be $4 PER CASE.

With the $0.01 deal I could afford to order a bunch of cases and in the process help promote Default. I figured a company selling an inexpensive useful product in this economy, is a good thing and I applauded their concept. I initially intended on buying 24 cases to give out to family and friends. I figured at most the shipping would be around $10, but was shocked to find out shipping came to $96, so I canceled my order.

I am not against Default from making a profit, as I already stated I like their cases and am thankful they sent me one for free to try out. I just don't think their shipping model is the way to go.

I don't think that they will charge $4 for shipping once the promo is over. They are doing this now so that you won't order bulk and resale. They just want to get the word out. At least from my understanding...

The shipping charge is to cover the cost of the case and shipping while still making them a profit. Many eBay sellers do the same thing and sell these exact same cases.
I understand this, but Default claims they were losing money due to shipping. So they decided to charge $4 PER CASE, to cover the costs of the delivery packing/shipping company they use. Yes they don't pack/ship the cases themselves.

Default sent me a free case so I could try it out for myself. And I must say it is a nice case, fits very snug and looks great. The plastic smells really bad though. And it's clearly not an Otterbox Defender type case, nor was it designed to be. So don't expect much drop protection. But it does a great job for the price.

I just have issue with Default's marketing gimmick, which kind of misleads consumers. But I guess that's the advertising game.

What they told me was that they don't mail out the cases themselves. They use a packing/shipping service and were losing money with this cost, so they increased the shipping fee to $4 to prevent this. That tells me the $4 PER CASE fee is here to stay.

So the case cost a total of $4.01 and you are complaining? Can't please some people I guess
My complaint is about the company popping off about selling $0.01 iPhone cases (which is great), but then gouging consumers with high shipping fees. If they had just said they were selling $4 cases (including shipping), then it wouldn't be a big deal. I get sick of the advertising gimmicks. Is it to much to ask for companies to be truthful with pricing?

What dream world are you living in? What they're doing is perfectly acceptable.

It fits well with a back and front protector on, it fits snugly

no i dont know if it smells bad cause i didn't smell the piece of plastic :confused::confused:

After a few days of use.. the dotted pattern is kinda playing havoc with the back protector.. its forming a pattern on it.. but its fine, i haven't had flash issues with it like i had with the speck candyshell

You have got to be kidding me....

This is a typical business model with these types of companies. Do you really expect them to ship it to you for like a $1??? Not going to happen. They either would barely make a profit or be in the hole... The whole point of advertising for .01 is to draw people to their page to buy. Kind of like why stores advertise something for $xx.99 as it draws peoples attention. The point of a business is to make money....thats not going to happen if the company ships at the price you want in whatever dream world you are living in...

I never said I expected them to ship to me for $1! What I said was I expect the shipping price to be fair. Nor do I expect them to lose money for the shipping. But when they send me one case in a huge box, then no wonder it would cost $4 to ship. They could have easily fit 24 cases in that box and the shipping cost wouldn't have come to more than $10. Yet they want to charge $48 to ship 24 cases.

As I have said over and over, I like their cases. I've been using mine for a few days now and for normal every day use it's great. But when I go hiking or biking, I put my iPhone 4 in an Otterbox defender case.

I also noticed that the terrible smell the Default case has, is slowly going away.

I just got mine today!

Waste of shipping material, big cardboard box, lots of plastic bubble protection for a tiny case in a plastic bag and thats probably why the shipping is $3.99!

The case it's self is quite adequate for the price, fitment is nice and the feel of it isn't too bad at all. I have two Elago S4 breathe cases and one of them fits worse then the $4 default case.

The default case is a slippy one though when compared to the $9.99 Elago S4.

(ignore my screen bubbles, I just applied a fresh screen protector)

Got mine this week. I am not a fan. I guess thats the chance you take for $4.

why aren't you a fan, please elaborate whats wrong with yours.

My girlfriend ordered the 3GS one for her phone, it came damaged and defaultcase was VERY fast to reply and get her out TWO new cases free of charge.

Customer service is VERY good, the cases could be better but overall for $4 I am pleased.

Actually it is growing on me. I decided to use it for a while and try it. I have an SGP Ultra Thin and like the rounded corners better. After having it on though I, I am beginning to like the perforated design. Its a decent case and I will use it for a while. I am just glad I did not pay more than $4 for it.

I have no idea! The box is ridiculously huge for what you get inside!
And that has been my point. If the shipping box was smaller then we shouldn't have to pay $4 for shipping. Currently this size of box is overkill.
