Other comments:
Today, I booted up and when it got into OSX, the display was somewhat messed up, as everything was kind of distorted in a pixelized kind of way. There was slight flickering in one area. Fortunately, when i rebooted, everything was ok. Don't know if this was a one time thing or not, but I thought it was weird. Prior to this I had played around with the Color Profiler and quit midway through without finishing because I didn't want to have any changes, so i'm not sure if that played a role in anything. Otherwise, screen looks awesome.
In general, the default calibration from the factory shows that the Samsung panels are warm while the LG panels are cold. Manual calibration may work to get these two screens closer in color.
Guess the Galleria store had a bunch of good apples (pun intended), mine turned out to be perfect too.
You can find the computer's serial number in System Profiler or by pulling up "About My Mac" and clicking the text where it says "Version 10.4.9" until it shows the number.
I hate to ruin the cadance of responses thus far, but one important other defect has been left out that should be noted. That is the scratching, hissing, and squealing when using the headphone jack. The electrical interference is important to a lot of pro audio folks and it would be nice to know how widespread this problem is...Thanks!
my MBP screen flickered initially but the problem went away after i increased screen brightness to max.
no dead pixels.
