Defective iPhone 5 Screen :(

I can confirm this I was buying iPhoto and I see the lines as I type my password

Do you guys also notice signal problems similar to the iPhone 4? I have not purchased mine yet, but I have noticed from this forum and YouTube that there are several screen and antenna issues? Can anyone confirm?
 
Mine has the same issue when entering my password into the App Store. I'm sure it's a software issue but I'll keep my eye on it. If it doesn't go away after the first update ill bring it in to apple. Don't want to risk an exchange yet, my iPhone is perfect other than that so far.

...and to comment on the above post, no I have no signal or screen issues. The above is more than likely a software glitch.

Can't say I have had any problems. It might serve you better to start or find an appropriate thread, as this thread relates to the lines on the screen.:)
 
I had it one time when opening a folder and haven't been able to duplicate it. I'll hold on out getting a replacement, rather wait till the 1 year is closer to being up
 
I'm guessing its an issue with he new App Store application. That's the only place people are having the issue and this is not the only issue people are mentioning about it. For some people certain pages won't even load. I too am having the same issue intermittently an it's just too much of a coincidence to be a hardware problem. It is only when typing password to download at app, that would not be a hardware issue. Don't exchange your phones for this reason, apple will make an announcement soon I'm sure.
 
I did see one hardware screen issue at the apple store. Wen i went to press an icon i probably pressed it a bit hard but the screen started distorting like an old lcd clock or laptop screen. Was pretty surprised so tried it on some other demo models without replicating it.
 
Ah fantastic I've been having the problem - weird horizontal lines on appstore when typing password - and couldn't find any reference to it anywhere apart from here...

I can confirm, after extensive messing about and testing, that this happens ONLY in appstore, and ONLY when being asked for my password. I have not had this happen anywhere else and everything else is perfect. I am therefore hoping it's just a software issue, but in that case, shouldn't it be more widespread?

This is a good point and my only nagging doubt about it being a software issue, I thought a lot more people would be affected. But I guess not everyone downloads as many apps within the first few days of owning the phone. Keeping my eyes on this one!
 
Well I certainly won't take any action unless it's confirmed to be some kind of hardware problem... I'm no expert, but given the very specific (software) circumstances in which it happens I'm having trouble seeing how it could be a hardware issue.
 
Can confirm I am not having this problem on iPhone5 Black 64GB, not trying to rub it in, but more aiming at finding out if specific models are having this problem.

If you are having the problem, maybe update with the following;

Size
Colour
Where it was bought (carrier in apple store or other, or bought outright at store)
etc.

Has this on a week 37(September) factory c3 black 16gb model.
UK vodafone network.

Took it back to apple who have swapped it out no questions asked

same problem. installing an app, started typing in password, then the horizontal lines appears. I don't really wanna go exchange if it's just a software glitch.

I saw this issue, maybe it's an appstore problem
 
Also had this problem typing password in the App Store. Hopefully just a software issue as it seems like.
 
I have the same issue on 2 iPhone5s

I got mine on Friday 21st last week and noticed this behavior, I also had another issue with the microphone, basically no one could hear me at the other end of the phone.

Long story short - I took it into an Apple Store and they replaced the unit, the sound issue is no more but I still get the issue with the lines when entering the password.

I have tried to reproduce this while using the keyboard elsewhere (Notes, messages, emails) but it never happens there, only when the password is requested. The likelihood of getting 2 phones with the same issue is either down to a design/manufacturing fault on the screen but since it only happens on the password screen it looks like a software issue.

I'm looking forward to the first patch :D

this happened for the first time last night while typing my pw. I have the white 16gb version. going to wait and see a bit before asking for a replacement.
 
I have same issue. It has happend twice and only from within the app store. The issue appears toward the bottom of the screen and crosses the entire width of the phone. It kinda of looks like the screen is garbeled for a few secs, then returns to normal. I would be more inclined to suspect a software issue.
 
Same thing here, glad I'm not the only one. Only saw it once when typing password on App Store.

Black 64GB ATT model here and I've seen the same horizontal lines glitch that's been posted on here. I've only seen it maybe once or twice and it hasn't bothered me but i can't tell if it's hardware or software related...I'll definitely keep an eye on the issue.

Has anyone noticed that sometimes the left-hand side of apps (especially legacy apps that don't fill the whole screen) sometimes shows a distinct white vertical line alongside the left-side of the screen? I've noticed it a couple times while playing Scramble. It's pretty subtle but I'm a wondering if it's related to the other issue we've been discussing.
 
Glad to hear I'm not the only one, called apple and they told me to turn it off and on, since I hadn't turned it off since I got it maybe that fixed it. If it happens again they said to do a hard reset and if I really wanted to to go get it replaced. Kind of want to wait before replacing it. Have any of you guys turned it off and on after seeing the issue?
