well i went from wifi gate to fuzzy screen gate. I'm over it.

Hopefully these are software issues.

Forgot to mention this is my 3rd phone......according to the Apple Genius they start flagging at the 4th try.

I just experienced this screen bug, but when I opened a folder to access one of my apps. I didn't take a screenshot of it though. I should have.

Anyways, it's was about four horizontal lines with a bunch of random colors, looked like a random graphics glitch. I haven't been able to replicate it.

I really think there's no point in swapping out your phones because of this problem. It seems pretty obvious to me that it's simply a glitch in App Store.app, not the hardware! If it were a hardware problem, you'd likely see it in 3D applications and others that use the GPU a lot.

And for the record, it has happened on my iPhone and I've never seen it outside of the App Store.

Nothing to worry about, guys. ;)

I called apple regarding the screen issue and am also having wifi issues as well as massive battery drain. They said this is a hardware issue and are giving me two new iphone 5's, as both our phones are experiencing same exact issues. Nearest apple store is 90 mins away so they told me to call att first to see what they can do. Att said its apples fault and apple told them they will release an update within the next few days to address the screen and wifi issues. I reiterated to att that apple said I need a completely new phone. Att then said, "oh really? Apple said that ? I'll call our manager to see if we can assist you further." Att never called back. Guess ill be driving to Tulsa 90 mins away

I'm kind of confused. Did they say that the screen issue is hardware, or that the battery issue is hardware?

My 2 cents.

Don't bother driving 90 miles if you are expecting a retail box as replacement, Apple Store will give you tech support replacement since they will not have retail stock.

I had a green line top to bottom on left side of the screen and had to fight for 3 days to get somebody who can get me a retail box replacement rather than tech support replacement. I know they are all same but not happy about having a phone that doesn't match to the serial number on the box.

one applecare guy on phone promised me to get me retail box replacement but when I got it, it was tech support replacement which came in a white box. I refuse to use it so somebody at higher level took it up and placed a replacement order which just got shipped direct from China, coming on 10/2. Never had problem dealing with Applecare but this time they have no clue.

Serious? I'd be pissed if they sent me a white box.

Supposedly an update to ios 6 is coming out in the next few days. According to att. If that doesn't fix it, I'm returning this *****. Has anyone had any luck with att replacing them?

These sons of bitches. I just called apple. Again. I had 5 charges of $31.86 on my bank after I called yesterday. They assured me nothing would be charged other than a preauthorization. Come to find out, they want to "hold" $1300 in order to send me two iPhone 5s and return the money after they receive defective iPhones.

Yeah right.

The new ones will be in white boxes and not retail boxes. She was so baffled upon reading my case number notes regarding all issues. She stated she heard of one other screen issue case like mine. I advised her of the hundreds of others on this site.

Her reply was, "well sir, I'm going to tell you it's not a software issue at all. These are purely defective phones from a 'bad batch.' Sure hundreds might encounter these issues, but millions were sold, and they are fine. I assure you. Your phone simply has hardware issues and needs to be completely replaced."

I replied, so no software security update ? She said, "no sir. There will be no software update addressing these issues. Simply exchange the phone for a new one."

I'm god damned pissed.

I wonder if my battery drain is related to this awful wifi issue. Maybe it's constantly attempting to stay on the wifi connections and draining it. I asked the advisor whom said that's probably why.

What to do???

I finally called apple a couple days ago and got an express replacement setup for my iPhone with horizontal lines and fuzzy/jumping bottom half of screen (and dead/stuck pixels).

Just got my new one and it's perfect so far. Not a mark on it, and the screen is perfect!!! Guess I won on this dice roll.

Anyone have issues on the top of their white iphone5 where it looks like someone pressed the screen hard ( two thumb size spots that are lighter than the rest of the black screen) kinda bummed just got it today...

I think I had this same problem, once, I am keeping an eye out for it again. I was buying an app in the app store and saw some distortion between the top row and middle row on the keyboard. It was a just a distortion across the entire width of the screen. I saw it right as I was about to click buy and saw it for a second then hit the buy button, it went away. I can't make it do it again so far.

I will post if I have it again.

I'm pretty sure this is a software issue, lots of people have seen this. It happens when you have the black app store password keyboard up.

iPhone 5 occasional blurry while watching Youtube/Vevo vids...

When viewing a Youtube/Vevo videos, sometimes the video gets blurry and fuzzy... It is hardware or software defect on the new iPhone 5 ??? However, I have an iPhone 4S, and to compare, over Wi-fi tried to view same video and the iPhone 4S does not occurs the problem...

question, what is the difference between a box replacement and a "tech replacement" as some mentioned on this thread. Is it any different?

Distorted/Vibrating iPhone5 display

My entire display started to vibrate/distort on 10/2/12. My phone was sitting on my desk at work when I turned it on to notice the distorted display. I did a soft and a hard reset that night which did not fix the phone. When I woke up on 10/3 I noticed the same issue. I called AT&T to discuss the issue and was directed to Apple Care. Once on the phone with an AC agent I explained the issue. I was directed to do a factory restore on the phone, and a number was started for the problem. After doing a restore on the phone the problem persisted. I called AC again this morning, 10/4, and was told that in order to receive my phone next day I would be charged $29.00 for shipping and would have a $600(+) hold put on my card until they receive my phone. I completely understand that $600 hold, and have not issues with that. Looks like they would eat the $29.00 for the issue being a hardware issue on there end. I have asked each agent I have spoken to if they have received any more calls with this issue and they all seem surprised with what I am telling them. Obviously I am not the only one. ----------thoughts???

This problem is present during all applications including the home screen, and did not start during the purchase of an app or in the app store. This problems simply started when I turned on my phone via the home button while sitting at my desk. My phone has not been dropped or handled roughly in any way since I received it.

I have been having the exact samething happening to my iphone5. Only happens in the app store though it is very strange. The pixels go all different colors. I tried to screen capture it but it doesn't show up.

Yep. That's it. Only when buying an app. I can't wait to hear the explanation for this one.

It looks for all the world like a hardware problem, but why only when buying apps?

Your eyes deceive you. If it was a hardware issue, you would see it at all times especially in graphic intensive applications.

no.

I have this issue too -- the distorted lines over the keyboard only when using the app store.

Anyway, it makes NO SENSE to me that this could be a hardware issue.

But...

Admittedly I know very little about tech stuff, but how could a display have distortion over a small portion of the screen only part of the time, when using a certain app but not the rest of the time?

How is that not a software issue?

Someone in this thread said he was assured it was a problem with the phone itself.

How?

Some smarter person please explain. Thank you!

So update. I got my phone replaced and the one they have me had scuffs on it so they replaced it again while at the store what a joke, anyway the 3rd on they gave me was also scuffed a bit but since I only have 1 replacement left I kept it. The replacement they gave me does the same thing with the keyboard and now this one has wifi problems it says I have 2 wifi bars but get no Internet constantly it's getting pretty pathetic that I have to put my iPhone 5 down and use my old 4 for Internet. If you guys have the keyboard issue and that's it don't replace it wait a few months until they give out all these faulty phones and get new batches in

I've noticed this on the new ipad running IOS 6 when using the Youtube app, never happened with the old Apple youtube app
