PuTTY is pretty much the standard free SSH client for Windows.
do you know if the steps listed in theguide will work on putty?
That's what I ended up going with, mrogers. The guide is now updated for AT&T customers on Windows.
🙂
dakidgo, you should be fine to proceed now. Let me know if anything doesn't work.
Question--can any of you guys listen to DRM music on your jailbroken phones?I did it to mine, and that was one of the two problems I had. The other one was, even with the lockdownd thing, it took a long time to find the carrier after a reboot, and eventually it just stopped working altogether. Anyone else have similar experiences?
The one thing I do like about this is that its relatively safe--reflashing to stock 1.1.3 is easy, at any point. Just takes forever to reload 6 GB of crap on the phone.
That is one caveat that I just noticed, as you mentioned it. It appears the drama surrounding NateTrue's premature release was a bit justified, then. I had assumed that the ringtone fix in the final step also fixed the problems with music, but I guess I was wrong. This is where the "you're responsible for any changes you make to your phone" provision comes in.
🙄
Ringtones do work with the fix off Installer.app, though, and I haven't encountered the carrier problem.
Ok thanks I took away the bracketts and it worked now, I have a ? I was one of the iPhones that had 1.1.2 OOTB but this all worked still. I thought it wasn't supposed to work? But if I had a regular Jailed not Jailbroken 1.1.3 yesterday and had my music and everything backed up, then today I downgraded and Jailbroked it all, will it hurt anything to restore it to the back up from yesterday? Thanks.
This works fine on phones that are 1.1.2 out of the box (such as mine). The only thing you cannot do, however, is downgrade your baseband now. You're also fine restoring the back up off of iTunes, it won't mess with your jailbreak.
I am at the part where you download the last file, but on rapidshare it shows me all these different places to download it from, just wondering, does it matter which one? I choose the first one and it downloaded lockdownd and the icon is just the blank page with a bent corner and same for the rest.
The source on rapidshare does not matter, and the "chmod" line handles the problem with it not being executable.
I've heard that many of the third party apps don't work on 1.1.3 because Apple altered the way that apps function like the location they run from and stuff. If I follow this guide exactly and complete everything correctly, is this going to happen?
Pretty much by the end of this will I be able to install 3rd party apps using installer and get them to run?
Some applications that relied on the way things were done in 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 will not work, no (such as Summerboard). As always, you are jailbreaking your phone right after the jailbreak was released - a risky thing. However, there is nothing inherent that makes 3rd party apps in general not work, and Summerboard is the only app so far that I've run into that doesn't work on 1.1.3. Updates for these apps will be out soon enough.
