You're at the Westmere level, which started at 37,000 posts.

Ah, thank you very much for clearing that up for me.

That rank commenced at 37,000 posts?

Gosh.

That is a place (and rank) I never thought I would approach.

Only 3 of us, at the moment.

A small but impressive community. Wow.

I doubt it! I recall when I joined you were nearly at the top. I recall thinking how does somebody post that much? Then a few years later I'm in that same top 50.

Yes, I find myself thinking similar thoughts.

I remember when you were the most prolific poster - by far - in this venerable place.

You too! Actually I do have real world friends. They are just busier than me.

Yes, these days, I seem to be more in touch with my virtual friends than with my real ones (both real and indeed, for that matter, almost virtual).

Now, it is also true that many of my real ones live in other countries, so regular day to day communication doesn't really happen.

And - as far as I am aware - the Market Place doesn't count, either.

I'd imagine Sandy Bridge (or higher, if such a rank exists).
Do you need a minimum count before being allowed to post in the Marketplace?

Yes.

You need two things to be able to post in the Marketplace section of the forum, and you must meet both criteria before you are allowed to do so: The first is that you must have been a member of the forum for at least six months (or 180 days) and the second is that you must have made at least 250 posts (whereas PRSI requires a post count of 100 posts before you are admitted to that section of the forum).

Both requirements - length of time and a set number of posts - were (I can only assume) put in place to ensure that a poster would have become somewhat known by his or her peers on the forum before being admitted to the Marketplace; in other words, people would have come to know you and you would have built up a reputation and credibility as a poster by the time you would have been admitted to the Marketplace, so some sort of trust in your bona fides (as buyer or seller, vendor or purchaser) would possibly exist.

Yes. There are both post count and membership length requirements.

Exactly.

@C DM , can we now confirm Sandy Bridge at 45,000?
@maflynn , if you weren’t a mod, what would your status be?

The most updated Top 50 would seem to confirm Sandy Bridge, and if maflynn were so inclined, we could piece together another title or two (still in Haswell? Maybe Skylake?).
It does seem like Sandy Bridge fits the previously suspected/worked out pattern and starts at the 45,000 mark.

I sure hope I'm not speaking out of place, but this seemed like the place to ask after an embarrassingly ineffective / inconclusive ten minutes trying to google this.

The question is, there are posts, likes and points. I've got posts and likes pretty much figured out by now, but what exactly are points?

Should one advertise one's membership of such an exclusive club?

I am sorely tempted to ask the mods to exchange my beautifully bland and neutral badge of 'contributor' for that of 'westmere'....

Ah, something that was flirted with (and then discarded) when the forum moved to a new (Xenforo) system a few years ago.

Nobody has (amassed) any points, so you needn't worry about it.

A moderator in an older thread posted about trophy points:
They are an XenForo thing that we don't really use. I guess trophies could be assigned if there was a suitable reason.
