yeah, i'll definitely set up a seperate user account

I actually did enter the password when i emptied the trash. I had also deleted some duplicate song files from using Senuti to get my music off my ipods, and i did enter the password when i emptied the trash. It was the first time I emptied it, so i figured entering the system password was S.O.P. Also, without a browser, I'm not able to download directly onto my Mac(I think). Also, when I did they full system install, it did not reinstall Safari. Would downloading safari on a windows machine, and transferring it with my flash drive work? In addition, would it be wise to download firefox and transfer that as well. I use firefox on my machine at work, i just hadn't gotten around to downloading it at home yet. Pending my search for Pacifist, what is it, briefly?

^^ Yes.

EDIT: Downloading Firefox might be worthwhile too. Pacifist is an installer that gets around the fact that the Safari installation will fail as you don't meet the existing "requirements" for it.

Apple.com is too smart

It won't let me download Safari for Mac. It appears as though the page detects what system you're running, and is only offering Safari for windows to me. I've downloaded Mozilla Firefox and Pacifist, so hopefully that will work. If anyone else has recomendations, let me know.

I agree withe Eraser about Firefox. Even though Safari may be gone, you can easily its import bookmarks. Just open Firefox, click File and click Import.

Firefox 3 is crap, but 2 is the best browser I've ever used.

Once you have Firefox you can download Safari for Mac on your Mac

fixed it

Thanks for your help guys. I downloaded firefox onto my flash drive, then installed that on the mac and downloaded safari from apple.com.

Hey folks, I'd like to thank everyone that helped me out along the way, unfortunately I couldn't find the work around solution, and was forced to re-install Safari off the DVD. I 'found' the DVD, so now we're sitting pretty with Safari. Thanks again for all the help.
