So, I went to delete some recent FaceTime calls in the FaceTime app, because I don’t want to accidentally dial anyone there. Apparently in iOS 26 if you try to delete a FaceTime recent, it will actually delete the entirety of your communication with them…? I get a warning indicating as much.

Please tell me I’ve missed something and they haven’t radically changed the behavior of removing a call from the FaceTime app to now the complete destruction of all your communication with that person. I just want to avoid accidental dials from the app.

What do you mean with "delete the entirety of your communication"? What kind of communication? The recent call list in the phone app, or what is being deleted for you?

This is the warning message. So it doesn’t include texts, but recent call logs, voicemails, and any FaceTime videos.

Doesn’t include messages, but seems reasonable to delete call history.

With a unified call history across FaceTime and traditional phone calls, I can see why they are treated the same. However, not sure why deleting one entry in a call history should delete all history of contact with that person.

I certainly wouldn't want all voicemails from someone deleted just because I wanted to clear one associated call log entry.

Which I don't do often but I understand the OP's thinking as I have accidentally called people with a wayward touch while browsing my Recents and Voicemail when all I wanted was Info. This UI/UX already wasn't ideal...

I went and tried it. I deleted a FaceTime call. I couldn’t tell exactly what was deleted.

Can't say as I am still on iOS 18. It's things like this which continue to give me pause to "upgrading". In the meantime, going based on the OP's screenshot of Apple's warning:

Based on the text in Apple's warning, it appears they are conflating clearing entries in Recent with blocking. Offering to erase all content from a sender marked Block might make sense (though even there one might want to block new contact while preserving previously received content for legal reasons).
