Deleting photos in your Photostream

It's not free, you have to pay at least $699 for the cheapest mac and at least $229 for the cheapest iOS devices. It's not free at all. And now you can see that it's something new for existing mac/iOS device-owners but that's just bull, you've paid enough for the product so we can expect decent products/services.

I don't think that is a fair argument. iCloud is free. You do not have to sign up. It is not a required feature to make the iPhone or iPad work. So I suppose by your line of reasoning that all of the free apps we download are not really free. I know what you are saying, I just don't think it is a legitimate line of reasoning.

The problem I have is that you can add older photos from any part of your iPhoto library but no way to undo that. It is one thing to have your last 30 days of photos, but it is another if you accidentally add older photos. That is not automatic and seems to be a feature, with no way back.

Deleting Photo Stream pics on iPhone

If you'd like to delete the pics on your iPhone-S select settings, then iCloud, and then click Photo Stream off. This will delete all your Photo Stream pics in your iPhone. If you have other devices i.e., iMac, iPad, iPod with iCloud, then you'll need to access these devices and click iCloud off so it stops pushing information, including contacts, calendars, pics, mail etc. to all your devices. As for deleting embarrassing pics from other devices, I'm sorry but the only way to be absolutely sure that they are deleted, you'll need to access your pic libraries in each device to fish them out once you have turned iCloud off on all your devices. I had the same problem and what I did, I checked all my pic libraries on my iMac and deleted those pics I did not want anyone to see or saved those that I wanted to keep to a secure folder on a thumb drive and then I synced my iPhone on iTunes and selected all my pic folders. I then checked my pics on my iPhone and my iMac to ensure that only the ones I wanted there, remained there. I hope this helps.

Wow. Yet another person that hasn't read the thread!! Plus your solution is not even as thorough as others posted where you just go to iCloud.com to delete the whole stream after turning photostream of each device which solves the end of your post.

Also this thread is now redundant as 5.1 has the ability to delete a photo from the photostream with ought having to wipe your whole photostream.

How to Delete Entire Photo Stream Folder

I'm going to throw you all a curve ball...

I have followed all instructions (in this thread and other websites):

1. Turn off "photo stream" option under iCloud setting on my iPhone 4
2. Reset "photo stream" in iCloud.com
3. Update iOS on my iPhone 4 to version 5.0.1
4. Hard reset
5. Full restore from backup

... etc, etc
... (and I have done all these steps in several orders and several times)

and I continue to have a Photo Stream Folder on my iPhone 4 with 1,000 pics. Interesting enough I successfully deleted/reset the folder in my other devices (using the same iCloud account). So my other iPhone and two iPads don't have this problem. The Photo Stream Folder either doesn't exist or if I had turn on "photo stream" option under iCloud setting then it is an empty folder with no pics.

Oh, and I have tried to delete the 1,000 pics one by one but I don't see the option of deleting pics in the photo stream folder (not because I don't know how to do it but because the option is not there-- I have done it before from my other devices) even after updating to version 5.0.1.

My problem is only in ONE of my iPhone where the photo stream folder still exist EVEN with the 'photo stream' option under iCloud "OFF"! and it has 1,000 pics. This 1,000 pics are NOT updating so if I take a new photo it won't replace any pic in my photo stream folder (I'm guessing this happens because the 'photo stream' option is OFF).

Not sure what else to do. I think the only option is to do a restore to original settings (without a restore from backup) but I really want to avoid that. I have too many things that I would need to re install taking me forever.

Any thoughts?
