Ordered a 48mm SS with blue leather and saw late May/June delivery, even later for black sports band, quickly ordered a second with classic buckle, got 4/24-5/8. Thought I was pretty clever so I canceled the watch with blue leather and just ordered the band. That is slated for May delivery.
The 48MM SS with BCB is "still processing," no charge, got the EOD last Wednesday and got nowhere in chat with apple apart from urged to be patient until 5/8 if necessary. I suspect the blue leather band will arrive before the watch with the classic buckle.
Why did I get up at 3am?
Apple should have just sent these out with a standard band or no band at all, sold bands separately in store. Or allowed a mix and match with availability... I would have definitely just picked the fastest band and bought another later.
Also agree they shouldn't have even listed an April date if it was more likely to be sometime in May. Bad communications. I'd be happy to see an apology or some such -- but I worry that will be what they'll do if they have to miss the 5/8 date.
That said, eh, when it comes, it comes, I am philosophical. I don't see any need to freak out. It may seem like a lot of people have watches, but I only know of a couple of people in my tech company that employs many hundreds, who got theirs, all sport models. We'll still be on the early cutting edge if the numbers are true, that Apple only shipped about 300,000 so far in the U.S. That is a tiny nothing.
