aren't these problems mostly related to ordering through resellers, or finances going wrong? Re-authorisations going wrong?
I just don't know.
BUT I feel truly sorry for the people who ordered in december and are still waiting :(
I can't speak for everyone here but as far as my order goes:
  • Ordered on 12/22 via Apple.com (Not a reseller)
  • Ordered with my credit card that has more than enough of a credit limit to cover the cost of the iMac
  • Called my credit card company three times to verify that the both authorizations were going to be/were approved--and they both were.
So none of those things that you cited above apply to my order. Trust me: I have tried to wrap my brain around what could possibly be derailing my order but I have yet to come up with any answers after reading and following this forum since even before I ordered.

I called into apple store in MK today and they had them in stock to take home.
Unfortunately I had taken it through Apple Finance and it can't be transferred across.
If they can have them in store then surely they could get my order to me after 6 weeks of waiting:confused:

good luck - you have the same spec as me. ordered 20th and still processing!

ordered 20th Dec - just been told at least another 4 weeks from now. The reseller said that their Apple rep stated that apple are in a world of strife regarding the imac!

Ordered on December 21st and the hold they put on on my account on Monday 1/21 has now been put back and I am still in processing. This is insane.

Sweden

Ordered 5/12

i7
standard ram (have bought 32gb from elsewhere)
2gb vram
3tb fusion

Apple is all about experience, and this experience sucks. :(

I ordered 12/27 from Apple store - pre-authorization on my card 1/17 and off on 1/24. I checked last night and noticed a little shipping box where the picture of the iMac was supposed to be - got all excited - checked again - still there - even more excited - checked again.......back to the picture of the iMac
Has anyone else gotten that shipping box picture?? I called numerous times to inquire - waste of time since they are telling me nothing I didn't already know....shipping in January - no really?? I am getting pretty irritated with Apple - this is ridiculous. I want my iMac!!!

more and more it seems that it seems that many (if not most) of the December orders that remain unshipped are the 3TB fusion drive with the maxed out processor and graphics card. (like you and me, too!). Is the 3 TB fusion drive causing problems? The only confounding variable is that some people who ordered even after me on this forum have gotten their iMacs with the 3 TB fusion drive, though

to be honest, I think a significant number of unshipped December orders are reseller orders.

Well, I'm sure there are a significant number of unshipped reseller orders--that makes at least some sense. But I'm referring to the orders I've seen on here from Apple.com all ordered around the 12/21-12/28 date range, many with my config.

fair point. apologies. I'm just unhappy that I've been waiting and waiting and waiting. ordered 16th of Dec, and still waiting.

I too am frustrated. Like many here, I got the 27" BTO with 3TB Fusion ...

However, as long as it is shipped in January, I'm satisfied. When I ordered it said shipping January, and I chose to buy it knowing I'd be waiting. I obviously want it sooner, but as long as Apple honors the "contract" to which I bought the item, I'll be happy.

agreed - but it's still frustrating seeing "still processing" and not "preparing for shipment" on my order. But as you said, as long as it ships this month I will be happy :D
