Well, MacMall had the same machine I ordered but with 1 TB fusion drive, so I reevaluated my hard drive space needs and decided to just go ahead & pick one up to put a stop to all of this ridiculous waiting with no updates or answers (now going on 34 days:eek:).
My hope is that by doing this, I'll move someone else (who has been waiting even longer than me for their iMac) up in whatever screwed up queue system Apple.com uses for fulfilling orders!
Who knows? maybe this will be the thing that causes all of your orders to go to preparing to shipment tonight!
I'm crossing my fingers for all of you! :D
 
12/22 Preparing for shipment!

Ordered on 12/22 (black hole date). It finally went to preparing for shipment, they charged me last saturday, the charge is still pending right now. ****ing finally!

I placed my order 12/23 and after 34 endless days of waiting my order is now "Preparing for Shipment".

12/22 here and a high end system like the last few commenters. (Trackpad, but 680, 3.4ghz, and 3tb) Moved to Preparing sometime tonight after over a month of inactivity. I was seriously considering walking into the store this weekend and buying off the shelf.

Hopeful they're actually finally building and shipping these things now. I can't wait to retire my 2.4ghz C2D iMac.

Really fed up waiting.
This, will be if I live that long be my first mac, seriously unimpressed.

Apple Store or reseller?

There are reseller orders dating back to 30th Nov that has not been shipped yet, even.

So it looks like they finally got their 3TB drives in and are starting to ship that batch out(don't think it matters what processor or anything at this point).

My 32GB of RAM are in my desk waiting for it's home to arrive!

my order has FINALLY moved to preparing to ship!!:eek: i saw orders from the 31st with my config and i was prepared to see no change, but i check my status just now. so it changed sometime between 6 am and 4:45 pm local (i'm in afghanistan which is 12 hours ahead of california)...who knows maybe i'll get the shipped notification tonight around 8 pm (which is 11 over in china)
 
They must have had a burst of energy over in China because mine has FINALLY went to "preparing to ship" as of last night around 10pm. All of you seem to be around my order date of 12/27 so I guess they are all going out on the same plane. I can only hope weather won't delay my iMac any longer :(

thank the heavens, it's been a long frustrating wait. the first half of waiting is done, now the countdown until it ships and reaches NJ where it will be forwarded to me overseas...which will be an additional 1-2 weeks.
 
If anyone cares, my iMac is now preparing for shipment.

If you ordered from apple, call them and complain...you might get a free SuperDrive.

Can you go and pick one up in store? I would have for a standard model. My local has loads of them
 
Australian story

I ordered mine on the 3 Dec 2012 and have been told to not expect delivery before 1 March 2013, a total of 3 months wait. I am deeply envious of the people who have already received their iMac.
