I am not clear on how this can be installed on a Huawei or other "incompatible" device. My windows store just blocks it and asks me to put on my wish list. Someone would have to share the raw install file. (An APPX file?)

I'm not clear on how I was able to do it - I'll try to repeat the process but I used the US Microsoft Store. It did flag my device as incompatible but after a couple of back and forths the Install button became blue and clickable.

Because macOS and iOS already have these features built in? You can call, text, and screen share already, plus do a ton of other things like AirDrop, Handoff, and Sidecar (with an iPad).

Yep - the macOS/iOS integration is still miles better than this. Mirroring is cute, and interestingly I started using the iOS apps on my 28" display instead of opening a browser and going to various sites like banking etc.

But, the mirroring is just that - you take over the iPhone with your mouse and keyboard, and it 'broadcasts' to the display. It works and is much smoother than I expected, but you need the Accessibility settings on etc.

I'd rather have proper iMessage integration etc. and will when I go back to Mac with the 14" MacBook Pro later this year, assuming the world hasn't ended.

Maybe if you follow this process, the older version of the app would get updated

At a minimum this feature will be removed. I don't believe Apple currently allows apps to do this.

Version 3.0 of the app lets users control their phone with their PC's touchscreen, keyboard and mouse, which also enables drag and drop for photo and video files to transfer them between devices.

thanks mac rumors
i didnt even know you can integrate cell with pc
found something online just now to integrate my android to win 10 lappies

Which feature?

The touchscreen just acts as a mouse. Nothing Apple could really to do kill that at this point.

Hadn't tried it before but I just operated my iPhone using the touchscreen on my Huawei Matebook X Pro. Works well enough but I'd stick to mouse and keyboard.

It would be nice if this were supported by Windows in general.
It would be nice if I could do this on macOS to be perfectly frank!

most of the features of the app are built into the Mac. Texting. Phone calls. Contacts. Etc.
Drag'n'drop???? Nope, didn't think so.

Can you explain why this would be a killer app? I’m not getting it.
Well, Apple craps on about how great it's integration is between Mac and iPhone, and yet it can't even do drag'n'drop, which has been around since, what, the 90's maybe? Maybe not quite "killer", but it would be a long overdue breath of fresh air.

so you get all your iPhone notifications on your Mac do you?

Why would I want to get Instagram/FB/Reddit/etc., notifications on my Mac? Seems like a lot of useless junk I don’t want to be distracted by while doing work. I get notifications for emails, calls, texts, and other essentials. I don’t want my Mac to mirror every single notification that comes in on my phone, and I’d wager that’s how a majority of people like it to be as well.

Just install it - it will work. I'm running it on a Huawei Matebook X Pro paired with my XS Max. No problem.

I installed the PC app via the Microsoft App Store. It said it was incompatible but allowed the install anyhow. Prompted for the mirroring drivers, I then restarted the Dell PC app to pick the drivers up and I'm mirroring my iPhone on my Huawei laptop.

It's a kludge using Accessibility / touch control and screen broadcasting to work, but it works well enough. Nice to have iMessage up on my 28" 4K screen with my mouse and keyboard available to respond to messages.

Just make sure your phone is sitting on a dock pointed at you, for Face ID recognition. Mine sits on a Qi charging base angled at me perfectly. I don't even have to look at it to log into different apps.

So should I snap a pic of my iPhone XS Max mirrored on my Huawei Matebook X Pro - really push you over the edge?

Works just fine on non-Dell laptops. Installed it today on a Huawei Matebook X Pro and my XS Max. Working as designed. Full mirroring, alerts etc. although 90% of the alerts on my phone are already set up on my Windows laptop, so I get double/triple alerts (Chrome, Windows and now this Dell Mobile Connect all triggered from the same event).

How did you get the app to install on your PC? Windows store says the app isn't compatible with my laptop and there isn't any option to install it.

The files in that Reddit post aren't available anymore, too bad. Hoping you can figure out how you installed the app.

Got this to work on my surface pro, instructions and downloads here: https://www.windowslatest.com/2018/01/15/install-dell-mobile-connect-app-windows-10/ To get mirroring update the app through the windows store after you install it. I suggest install drivers first, reboot, install the app installer from the windows store to be able to sideload and then just install the app, then lastly update it.

It's pretty janky but really cool. The mouse control isn't good and I can't find the tracking speed adjuster that the tutorial mentions. Calls work, but oddly enough bluetooth headset support was present on the older version in the above link but isn't supported on the newest version. Also the iphone has to be on with the connect app in the foreground, which really takes most of the functionality away unless you have the phone powered on and in front of you, which means you can just use the phone.

Does Mac support that feature? Why dont we have that?

Not mirroring. You cant control your iPhone or iPad from your Mac. I still had to buy a third party software to use Instagram from Mac.

Anyone know if minimum iPhone requirement? I used the developer mode in Windows 10 to install program on my HP Envy. The text and phone and WiFi file transfers work on my iPhone 5s. But don't have the screen mirroring option.

Current MBP (2018) user who switched from Dell laptops about three years ago. I now find myself needing Windows applications for work. Means I have my Mac and an older Dell. Considering the new XPS13, told myself I would never switch back because of iMessage and text on the Mac.

Sounds like Mobile Connect solves this issue. Anyone made this switch? Wondering how well it really works. I know I give up a few other things but one machine is nice. That XPS is also quite nice and since I’m stuck in MS Office, I know Outlook is better in Windows.

Appreciate feedback.
