Hi, I purchased the above monitor today with a view to extending my desktop in my genealogy research allowing me to have several documents open at once. I connected the monitor using an HDMI to thunderbolt cable to my 27" iMac 17,1. as a result the text is very blurry and being of an age where sight is failing I find the screen uncomfortable to look at. The display preferences for the monitor are very limited to scaled 1600 x 900, 720p, and 1080p which it is set at. The refresh rate is 75 Hz.

I viewed the Dell website to see if there were any downloads but MacOS doesn't seem to be supported, which I find a little odd?

I am not sure whether the monitor is faulty or I have not set it up correctly. Any assistance would be appreciated before I take it back

Thanks

Mike

This is quite a low-resolution/low-density (24” 1920×1080) monitor which doesn’t come close to your iMac’s 27” 5120×2880 LCD in terms of resolution and pixel density. Unfortunately, text rendering in macOS is noticeably worse on monitors with lower than “4K” (3840×2160) resolution than it is on “4K” and higher-resolution monitors. Thus, if you want text to look good on macOS, you pretty much need a “4K” (3840×2160) or higher-resolution monitor.

Thank you very much for your help. I'll just have to squint, unless you know of a cheap £4k monitor?

24” “4K” monitors have all been pretty much discontinued except for this one and the pricey LG UltraFine 4K AFAIK. But there’s plenty of affordable 27” “4K” options. Just make sure you don’t get a TN panel because they have horrible viewing angles. VA is better, IPS is best for viewing angles.
