Arrived today to replace my U2715Q Which will now go to one of the other computers. This is attached now to my M1 Mini (HDMI)
There did not seem to be many reviews and some said it had bad contrast etc. I took a gamble and ordered one since I have been buying Dell monitors for years and never let down. (Quite a collection of monitors amassed over the years)

When you receive one they come with a Quality Control calibration sheet and are calibrated at factory. 759 USD at Amazon etc.

Takes a few seconds to assemble, stand has a nice weight and it snaps together with no tools needed quickly. Base has a nice weight to balance the screen. Once assembled and put on your desk it feels solid and not wobbly.

Colors pop, great contrast, Images look lifelike with detail and accurate colors. Working 32inch 4K Is a whole different ballpark. Things like Full layout magazines look amazing, detailed and the spread is paper white with colors on point.

You can work for hours and no eye fatigue etc..
The Screen runs cool, no discernible heat which means they are using efficient LED backlighting. I actually have my Backlighting at 35% This monitor loafs when producing images, I can see this monitor lasting for quite some time.

Just working on a this 32inch monitor is quite a luxury tons of room for work, great clarity and contrast So far everything has been great. Just doing Google Maps you 3d mode looks amazing and potential time waster.

Anyways I highly recommend this monitor, it is quite weird that there are not many reviews or word of mouth for the U3219Q

hey thanks for that. Looks like you are using the HDMI connection. I’m looking for an external display for my 2020 iMac. I was wondering if this could be connected via thunderbolt 3 port and offer the same picture quality that is giving you over hdmi. Did you ever try it with thunderbolt? Does it even support that? Thanks

Yes, the monitor does not need Thunderbolt to work with a USB-C port because of DisplayPort Alternate Mode or whatever it's called.

In fact, DP provides more flexibility with OP's exact computer/monitor combination:

Thanks for the report! I am getting this one for my wife's M1 Macbook Pro. I was considering the BenQ PD3220U until I heard that it has issues with proper resolutions. I also considered the LG 32UL950, but some are reporting problems waking from sleep. I haven't heard of any problems with this U3219Q and the M1s.

I have heard of the sleep issue as well, in the gaming 27GN950 display. Combined with my poor experience with the 4K Ultrafine (now sold) I am cautious.

I should be getting my U3219Q in a few days and will put it through its paces on my M1 Air and Intel MBP.

The combination of pandemic and holiday rush is taking a toll on the shipping industry.

Ordered Monday 11/30 with an expedited delivery date of Monday 12/7, three days late and counting.

Ah well, I doubt calling to complain will improve the situation, just give some poor rep even higher blood pressure.

I’ve had the U3219Q for about a year now. Very happy with it. I agree with OP’s assessment. I would add that it works well for KVM switching too. I use it with an M1 mini (16GB/1TB via HDMI), 2020 MBP 13” (i7/32GB/1TB via USB-C from eGPU) and work laptop (Surface 2 via mDP -> DP). My peripherals (Logitech BRIO webcam, Blue Yeti mic, Bose speakers, Logitech MX Keys and Master 3 mouse, HP printer) all switch with one button for work laptop <-> MBP. The mini is 2 or 3 button presses.
Great for WFH and switching between different machines.

Just got mine today. The KVM is great for switching between my gaming PC and my MacBooks.

I've now tested the display with a range of systems that may be of interest. All tests were with the cables that came in the box. My U3219Q's nameplate shows a September 2020 manufacture date and came with the latest firmware M3B107.

Overall functionality is good and the panel has zero bad pixels. Unfortunately the quality of the panel leaves something to be desired in a few dimensions. Gonna do more research to see if it's exchange-worthy.

One specific issue I tested: "sleep chime", referring to a widely-discussed problem where Dell USB-C displays continually re-connect power to a sleeping Mac, causing constant power chime noises.

Backlight bleed is strong especially in the corners and bottom edge; the camera exaggerates compared to real life, but it's still quite noticeable:

A more favorable panel shot: with one of Apple's P3 wallpapers, the colors really pop.

I previously owned the LG Ultrafine 4K 21.5" with P3 and I would say the color is very nearly as good.

I noticed some strange, rather unpleasant text artifacts when plugged into my M1 notebook, which ultimately led me to this thread.

There appears to be no current workaround, so I have initiated a return with Dell.

Some people on this board in the past have said that any 32" 4K display renders text too small. Has that been your experience? I would love 5" more display space compared to my 27" iMac, but I sit in front of documents all day long (and can't use an ultra widescreen display in my space). Would this be a good option?

Text looks great at retina 2560x1440 (same real estate as your 27" iMac at default settings). A notch or two higher is also fine if you like more desktop real estate (e.g. 3008x1692). However, native 4k would be too small IMO. Perhaps if you have young eyes and sit quite close to the display it might be ok.

I found 2560x1440 a bit "Fisher Price" at 32" - a 1.5x scaling.

3008x1692 is more reasonable, but the "retina" effect is not very strong because the physical pixels are only 3840x2160, 1.28x scale

Need some help on a few things with the Dell U3219Q on an Apple M1 mini.

I just received and setup my M1 Mac mini and I’m looking for a good 4k display with minimal M1 issues. I have already retuned a LG 38WK95C-W due to poor image quality and USB issues when connected off the back of the monitor. I also found the ultra wide display a bit too wide. The Dell does appear to be a good alternative.

Can someone with the U3219Q possibly confirm a few things…

• I’m coming from an Apple Thunderbolt 27” display using its native resolution of 2560 x 1440. Everything works and looks great but I would like a larger and higher resolution monitor.

I know that running a 4k monitor at full resolution makes things a bit too small, but I would like to run it at 3008 x 1692 to have more real estate than 2560 x 1440. Can anyone confirm that things still look good at this scaled resolution for daily use? If I had to scale back to 2560 x 1440 I might as well just stay with the Thunderbolt Display.

• Also, one of the reasons I returned the LG was due to the USB hub built into the monitor. If I had a USB hard drive/SSD connected and the computer went to sleep, the drive would be ejected ungracefully and I would get the message that the drive was unmounted improperly. Obviously this is not what I want. I have tested this on a different Dell display and things work as they should, just like if they were connected to the back of the Mac. I would like to know if this is working also on the Dell U3219Q.

Thanks for your help.

I have a 27" Dell 2k monitor in 2560x1440. Just tech question. If I viewed the 32" at 2560x1440 wouldn't things look larger than on my 27" at the same resolution?

So I should get the same option:
3840x2160
3360x1890
3200x1800
3008x1692
2560x1440

Using my MB Pro 16" 2019? If I hav the 32" set at 2560x1440 tings would look larger than on my 27" 2k even though its the same resolution right? I wouldn't be gaining any space just menus etc looking larger? I wish I could try this out in person at 3200x1800 and 3008x1692 for sharpness when scaled and size of my design programs.

Larger (roughly 32/27 = 1.19 times larger) and sharper (because 5k scaled to 4k is sharper than native 2k). If you want same size UI elements as you're used to, you could try one of the "more space" scaled options like 3008x1692.
