Let me know when it goes back to the pre-split $13.

$13? What decade was that? I seem to remember it was about $70 when they did the 7 for 1 split. Today's after hours price of $95 would equate to approx $660 before the split. For all the money they've wasted on share buybacks the share price is going to end up back where they started. What a colossal waste of money.

It should have had 3d touch as to make it future proof.

I have yet to see 3D Touch perform as anything more than a convenience. It's not really a lot different than having a keyboard shortcut for a mouse/menu function under OS X. Until I see 3D Touch actually do something that is otherwise impossible through other methods on the iPhone, then it's really no different than a 5s with Touch ID and a 5c without, where I have to enter my password -- and so nothing to really future proof.

Reports by "analysts" that don't know anything and were completely clueless.

That's why you can't trust these "experts" who sit on the sidelines and make wild speculation. Now we've got it directly from Apple - iPhone SE is much bigger than projected. Nothing "lackluster" about it.

Apple saying demand is greater than expected doesn't say much either.

Ridiculous comment.

Apple didn't even offer a 4" flagship iPhone when they started selling oversized phones. I am quite sure a 4" iPhone 6 and 6s would have sold very well, just as all 3.5" and 4" iPhones did for as long as they were available to buy.

Given that the iPhone 6 was already supply constrained such an experiment would not have been possible. Plus for years everyone was saying Apple was leaving money on the table by having such a small screen on their flagship product.

Yes, buy backs are a gimmick. That said companies can't hoard cash forever. They still have plenty of cash to fund operations and pursue a big acquisition if they want to.

"Demand strong...exceeds supply". Re-baked headlines, just like most of their products. Who falls for this crap? I guess they think people are dumb enough to believe it.
There could be some truth to it. I called my local phone store Healix Smartphone Repair to hold one for me and they were already Sold Out of all 5SE units with no ETA on when they would have them back on the shelves.

Don't you think it curious that Cook and Cue were all over themselves telling anyone and everyone who would listen, the numbers when it comes to Apple Music and Apple Pay BUT nary a word on Apple Watch sales - I mean, if they're selling that well, why hold back?

Apple should never have stopped selling a 4" iPhone, as the SE demand testifies. Cook said he was surprised at the strength of demand, and that it was a lot higher than he had anticipated.

That, to me, shows his blindness of strategy. For Apple to abandon the optimal form factor for two years was cretinous, and bodes badly for the future as long as Cook is CEO.

A bit harsh. Had they launched iPhone 6 with 4" - then the overall margin would have suffered as fewer would have jumped onto 4.7 or 5.5; nor could they get away with the price charged.

This is a clear sign that there is strong demand for a 4-inch form factor iPhone. Considering how clueless Tim Cook is, he will probably fail to make the connection and thus choose not to release a 4-inch iPhone 7 in the fall.

Instead of a 4-inch iPhone 7 in the fall, what we'll likely get according to the most reliable Apple product predictor on the planet, Ming-Chi Kuo, will be a 4.7 and 5.5 inch iPhone 7. A key feature in Cook's mind is a missing headphone jack. Cook believes it's more convenient for consumers to have a slimmer phone while carrying an adapter for their headphones.

Relying on 4" as a mainstream product in 2016 - is a bit risky. Especially when you're up against 5.1/5.5" SAMOLED S7 with a 4" phone - it's like showing up for a gun fight with a knife. Imo the SE was pretty spot on. It's a temporary patch while the 7/8 gets the hype back.

I hear they were going to break into a "personal computers" market too, but the experts all say theres no money in such venture.

It only took Tesla 10 years to make its first profit. And it's barely making money if any every quarter. Apple has taken on a monumental endeavor in creating a car company from scratch. Tesla has had 13 years to deliver a modest hit in the Model S, and do it with little interference and without the chorus of critics and wall st analysts looking over their shoulder that Apple has.
Apple and Tim have a hard long road to go.

Something tells me only Apple users still want a 4" device. I don't see anyone who owns an Android phone complaining about how their phone is too big.

The average consumer weighs Apple down.

FTFY. You can't say Ming-Chi Kuo without having a "respected" somewhere in that sentence.

"Hey, this one fits my old case that I already have, that I bought years ago." -non-techie spouses everywhere

Pretty much. "Oh I only use the phone to make phone calls and to send a couple of texts a day."

So then why did you buy a smartphone??

I went from a 6+ to an SE, and I like everything about it better.

It's way easier to hold, especially without a case. The square edges are superior.
The round volume buttons are much easier to differentiate.
The power button makes more sense on top. It's nice that its location matches the new iPad Pro which I also use frequently.
It fits perfectly for one hand use.
Fits in the front pocket of jeans that aren't huge.
I can still do just about everything I did before on the small screen without much compromise.

Cons? The lower contrast screen and increased distance from the glass to the LCD are noticeable. I never had force touch or TouchID2, so I can't comment on those. It's not as nice to view photos.
Is this your first 4 inch iPhone

Storage options make little sense. A 128gb model would have my interest.

64GB is enough for most practical uses unless you are heavy RPG & racing gamer. Those games take boat load of memory space

I don't why Google & Apple want to get into car business? As far as Google is concerned, all those driving & destination data, why could they do with it?

My wife is probably going to be replacing her cracked screen 5s with one of these this week.

I have an iPhone 6s Plus, and was thinking of selling it and getting one of these.

I thought I would like a bigger phone, and I do, when I am sitting down and can have both hands on it. But, majority of the time, I am on the go, and have trouble finding safe places for it.

While driving, I keep it on the passenger side seat, and it slides around, sometimes it ends up on the floor. I just don't have anywhere else to keep it.

It bodes quite well for Apple as they now have a new hit on their hands.
4 inch was always there but with older hardware.
What they did was refresh the hardware and keep form.
I know its difficult to grasp but still..
