What this is shows is that Cook is like all of the others, just go after the biggest pot, instead of lets take care of our customers and they'll take care of us. Its Ivy League marketing 101. Focus on products that have market domination and forget everything else. Thats Apple today, forget about Macs, forget about Pro users, forget about tinkerers and concentrate on teenagers and Rap and marketing popularity. Cooks strategy, "Lets make Apple the 'in' device, regardless of our products worthiness."

Tim obviously has influence as the CEO, but product focus is probably heavily in the lap of Phil Schiller. Always has been, though Jobs was there to push back on the bad ideas and to guide a market need into a transformative product.

Tim is an operations guy and probably lets the other senior execs handle product and creative decisions for the most part, but yeah you're right that Cook is probably more concerned about the health of the company and doesn't have the visionary DNA of Steve Jobs. We never expected him to. Unfortunately, however Tim has structured management has not led to a group of people that seem to be able to "replace" what Steve brought to the company. I hope the board is looking for someone who can really provide the kind of strategic vision Jobs had. I don't know if that's possible. Maybe the "Apple strategy" was really just "Steve Jobs and his once in a generation brain."

Loving my SE. That said, if the iPhone 7 doesn't bring something to draw me away from my SE, then this will serve me until the iPhone 8. It's a solid phone with plenty of power, excluding the screen real estate.

Let's rewind and assess what you just wrote - you have a BRAND NEW, VERY powerful phone, and yet, already, you are looking to the next iPhone to replace it only after a FEW MONTHS? Are you bored easily? That superb handset would be usable for 3-5 YEARS.

People make me laugh - enjoy LIFE, and stop harping on about the next gadget release - it's saddening and demonstrates a LOT about modern, fickle consumerism - do you want to be an example of that?

Man, I'd be delighted with even a 5S, and can't afford even that. Be grateful for what you have - hold onto it and get to know it, some people don't have the luxuries we do.

There is nothing wrong with wanting the newest and best.Don't talk down to him because you can't. Nobody has the right to tell someone what makes them happy.

Lots of little hands out there. :O

A little phone can fit comfortably in large AND small hands, whereas a large phone can ONLY fit (just about) comfortably in large hands, so guess why it's a winner? Because the 3.5-4" iPhone was never EVER a "loser" OR a poor product, it's just that phablet snobs who can't see past the end of their fickle noses start making childish comments and snotty remarks, LOL. :D

4" phone means better grip and ease of use - man, consumers are idiots, their views change with the rise and fall of the tide, no joke or surprise though.

Or he was kidding.....

If I climb up a beanstalk, will I find your house? ;)
LoL..... I actually was soooo against apple making a bigger phone when the 4/4s was made and there was the uproar to make a bigger phone. When the 5 came out I wasn't that turned off but then it started...... I saw the usability and beauty of a larger screen and then 4" wasn't big enough (I know... that's what she said). Was in phone heaven when the 6+ finally made it to my hands.... I could even go with a bigger screen, even if that means a larger form factor. I guess I'm considered a big guy, 74.5" tall with I would say average hands for my height... I wear normal fitting clothes and have no problem fitting my 6s+ into any of my pockets. Heck I can even fit an iPad mini in my pocket most of the time (no I don't want a phone as big as a mini, let's not go crazy). I have no problem with apple making a smaller form factor device for those that want it (even though they never stopped...people just didn't like the specs) but for me, now, bigger is better.

I always enjoy the refreshing, unique and imaginative people who see past the temptation to fall for cheap laughs by avoiding doing the whole stale "That's what she said" schtick. Wow...

Can ANYONE manage not to think about/talk about/imply sexual ANYTHING for more than one hour?
Figured it was coming so took away the chance.... but are you OK? Not sure why someone saying that would bother you so much. Aren't there more important things in life to worry about than someone saying something that in no way as any bearing on your own?

No Tim, the reason you have the supply constraints you have is because you insist on making 16GB the base configuration. The SE customers are smarter than that. There's plenty of 16GB SEs out there. The supply constraint is on the 64GB models.

Every Apple Store in Los Angeles was out of every 64GB model for every carrier, but they had loads of 16GB models they couldn't give away.
Yeah, but that extra 48 GB of memory must be costing Apple at least $15 or so, how can they afford to make them?!

I can't see the average consumer buying a high end smartphone every year period. These things are pricey! But if you are a heavy phone user then upgrading and reselling your old phone makes sense. But that is likely to always be a small minority of smartphone users.
I upgrade yearly..... my wife does too depending on the "new" phone. Year old phone goes to the kids and their phones go onto a shelf and collect dust or are given away to family/friends that may need a phone. Right now I have a 4, 4s, 5 and 5s sitting on the shelf...... maybe I'll toss them on the bay to see what they bring.

Anything except typing I imagine.
Maybe I don't understand what you mean but especially typing. Trying to use such a tiny keyboard or even click on a link is incredibly difficult for me on the smaller devices.

That's what our forefathers had to deal with in 2014. Life was hard, but it made you a man.
LoL... I'm old enough to remember rotary telephones so by comparison I'll take a 3.5" screen.

Guess I need to move! None of the 20 or so Apple Stores within 500 miles of Wichita have had a 16 GB Space Gray SE since day one. No 64 GBs, either.

All you folks can keep your tiny phone..... Love my 6s+ (size) and am never..... Can never go back. Picking up one of the 5s's laying around the house and trying to do anything on it is an exercise in futility for me, forget about the 4s.....Heck, even my kids shun such a tiny device.

And if Apple drop HUGE phones and go back to 4", you'll be eating your words, and/or your hat.

My wife's hands are tiny, she hates using my 6s plus. She has trouble holding it to her head, and even picking it up. She is replacing her 5s with the new se.

Although, I am sure her hands are smaller than most women. They are like a child's hands. My 10 yo daughters hands are bigger.

I am a VERY well built 6ft 5" man, 22 stone, and I have BIG hands and a 5.5" Android phone (soon to be sold, it's a pig, all Android phones are pigs, I digress...) and I struggle not to do the thumb stretch without nearly dropping it's slippery slab of a self.

4" is back, better adjust, folks - the big, small, big, small, big, small cadence has been seen again and again with cellphones - trends and fads - it's going nowhere, so get used to it or get off the tech train.

I think a lot of people here derive enjoyment out of the device itself, rather than deriving enjoyment from the things the device compliments. Admittedly I am guilty of this too, sometimes. That endorphin rush when you get a new shiney toy is fun. It really is a bad way to live though.

It is much better to have other hobbies, and to get pleasure from healthier things, where the iphone or whatever can compliment or enhance the experience. For example, I love skiing, hiking, and biking. The TraceSnow, AllTrails, and Strava apps, respectively, all add to the experience. Plus, the taking photos of nature and documenting the beers I drink afterwards is fun too. All those things are just as good on an iPhone 4S as they are on an iPhone 6S or whatever, and they're all pretty darn good without any phone at all too.

This is a clear sign that there is strong demand for a 4-inch form factor iPhone. Considering how clueless Tim Cook is, he will probably fail to make the connection and thus choose not to release a 4-inch iPhone 7 in the fall.

Instead of a 4-inch iPhone 7 in the fall, what we'll likely get according to the most reliable Apple product predictor on the planet, Ming-Chi Kuo, will be a 4.7 and 5.5 inch iPhone 7. A key feature in Cook's mind is a missing headphone jack. Cook believes it's more convenient for consumers to have a slimmer phone while carrying an adapter for their headphones.

In addition to many for whom a premium-priced phone is a barrier to entry, there are also doubtless many that want a jacket or even shirt pocket sized phone. In that regard, a thin small phone might make some sense; but a thin larger phone simply provides more leverage to bend it.

Most Bluetooth headphones are inferior in sound quality, and an adaptor is clunky. Thin has IMO gone far enough, at least until there are flexible displays (how could that work with a touch screen though, esp with 3D/force touch?).
