I want it to last as long as possible..so I like to take care of my things...

Fair enough, but rubbing it down every day won't make it last any longer. And any and all polishing you've done have been likely thrown down the tubes by that small dent as far as resale value...not that it should matter anyway. Things are meant to be used...not preserved for display in the Smithsonian. But hey, my time might be more valuable to me than yours, so to each their own.

This voids his Applecare, doesn't it?

If it does, then if you bought the extended Applecare, you should return it and get your money back for something you can't even use.

You're kidding? A small dent would void my WHOLE applecare??? Please tell me your wrong??

No, a dent doesn't void AppleCare, but they won't pay to repair it. If you have an issue that they determine was caused by the damage, they won't cover that, either.

Really? I'm sure I've read posts about people having troubles with their mac, bringing it to a genius desk, and having them look it over with a fine-toothed comb for any physical damage. If there is any, then they'll say that the damage could've been the reason for the mac's problem. Can anyone confirm what Apple's official policy is to do with physical damage?

As I said in my post:

However, that doesn't mean your entire AppleCare plan is voided. It only means they won't cover repairs that they determine could be the result of damage.

b. Limitations
The Plan does not cover:
...
(ii) Damage to the Covered Equipment caused by accident, abuse, neglect, misuse (including faulty installation, repair, or maintenance by anyone other than Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider), unauthorized modification, extreme environment (including extreme temperature or humidity), extreme physical or electrical stress or interference, fluctuation or surges of electrical power, lightning, static electricity, fire, acts of God or other external causes;
...
(viii) Cosmetic damage to the Covered Equipment including but not limited to scratches, dents and broken plastic on ports, that does not otherwise affect its functionality or materially impair your use;
...

Kinda a weird way to get a dent.. I got the dent because I was trying to set up a wireless antenna for wireless internet at my new house, and the receiver fell from the windowsill and hit my MBP, that I had there for testing my connection. I almost brought the dell instead, but decided to try my MBP first..i should of used the dell. :(

Put one of those hardshell cases on the notebook. You won't see the dent and it will protect from further dents.

picture or it didnt happen:p

no, in all seriousness, I'm sorry. unfortunately, some sort of cosmetic defect was bound to occur eventually... just happened sooner in your case (lame pun intended)

In regards to that stuff about Applecare, here is a thread that I was referring to:

Dropped Macbook

I'm just saying... they might void it.

(No snide remarks now. It's a legit concern and I'm trying to help.)

I would be super bummed if it voided my Apple Care..I can't return my apple care, because I got it about a year ago..

Painless Dent Removal? :p

I got about a 4 inch scratch on the bottom of my MBP while sharing it in class, my fault. But I've been seriously considering getting a new bottom panel for it. :mad:
