Given Apple's penchant for reducing thickness why isn't there one made of these:

I really wish, in all sincerity, no sarcasm at all, that I could “get” art.
You probably “get” art just fine. This just is mental masterbat**n.

Reminds me of being on a London trip years ago with a bunch of artists. I remarked at the massive spherical buoys in the Thames: “I would like to see one of those in an art gallery in an otherwise empty white room.” They all found the concept genius. I was joking...

The only person who would approve of this is a divorce lawyer if I plopped this “art” on my wife’s coffee table.

As a designer, I can appreciate the craft and thought provoking nature. But what a lot of designers fail to comprehend and perhaps this is ironic to their schtick, I mean 'art', is what a waste of resources. Locally sourced this or that for something that has no existential value or benefit. lol

I’m not sure if what I’m seeing here is a waste of artistic talent or a lack of it.
I think that if the artists behind this *ahem* 'work' were to go away, the net amount of artistic talent in the world would increase. Reminds of a project we had to do at art college, way back when. The goal was to go out and take a black-and-white photo of the most mundane and uninteresting thing possible, and then come up with five explanations of why it was social commentary. Which was surprisingly easy, oddly enough - you just needed to get into a proper 'artistic' frame of mind. I suspect the lecturer who set it was extracting the urine and demonstrating how shallow and meaningless stuff like that is.
Side note: It's hard not to be a globalist as we all live on a globe. The only true anti-globalists are Flat Earthers!

This comment section made my day. Thank you, Macrumors, for posting this "art." I am laughing so hard right now.

I think it would be great to see these fake machines paired with those South Koreans doing the a capella sounds. That's an exhibit I would go see!

I intentionally wrote an annoyingly sappy poem about American culture or something for high school English class one time. Teacher said it was amazing and even went and told my parents how great of a poem I wrote. But I got the feeling he caught on and was just trying to out-fool me.

But, it just makes the conventional materials look all the more practical? And what’s it got to do with globalisation? You can make plastic and find aluminium pretty much anywhere.
Yup. A better example might be to show people upcycling old Apple products in utilitarian ways. That might be a tough spin for Apple though considering their design foundation rests on zero-repair throw-away engineering.

MacRumors needs to bring back the Page 2 feature. This is the kind of story that really shouldn’t be a main page headline but that would be a great human interest type story on a separate section of the site.
