How can I get Desktop Icons to save with their graphics instead of changing to the plain white box with @ HTTP in it...

I want to save the shortcut in it's native graphical format is what I'm trying to say I guess, I pasted a photo below to show the difference from my Win screen icons to the Max OS X screen.

Thanks.

Well, in your example, those are all webloc files, so there isn't any preview to create. In the Windows example, most of those are shortcuts (aliases in OS-X) for applications.

If you create an alias for an application or specific type of document, you will get the appropriate icon. For media files, you need to enable "Show icon preview". Go to "Finder > Show View Options..." and check "Show icon preview"
